Destroy kills the Geth.  It's genocide.  How is that moral?

The Reapers are destroyed for good.

While I didn't like the idea of the Geth and EDI dying, I wasn't going to let the Reapers just leave. Who's to say the Catalyst won't change his own rules and send them after us again? It's not a risk I or my Shepard would be willing to take.

It was the only way to be sure that the Reapers are gone for good.

Yes the Reapers need to be destroyed. But it's still genocide. It's in no way moral.

Yup. Just tell that brat to shove his virtual head up his virtual a**, and slap "Synthesis" on that choice. Best one ever.

This.

Plus the fact that it will lead to primitive races becoming more intelligent but still culturally undeveloped.

Bioware havent said that Synthesis is the best option. Indoctrination IS occuring. And those who are indoctrinated in real life would believe synthesis would be the best option. Just because it requires the most EMS does not mean it is the best option. Its a trap.

I never said it was moral, if I'm going to be honest I hate all three endings. But I chose Destroy because it was the only one that made sense to me.

I couldn't just let the Reapers walk (or fly) away after all that they'd done and just hope they won't come back. The only thing to do was to destroy them, to ensure they never return.

Was I happy that I commited genocide? No, of course not. But I had to make sure the reapers were destroyed.

They're probably preoccupied with the whole "My DNA just changed" thing.

Soldier 2: Don't worry, it'll pass. It happens to all the FNG's.

Soldier 1: No, I really feel like I have little gears in my stomach.

Synthesis in not an option. Just forget about it... Even if it will stay in the game in EC, we better think there is no such option at all.

By "Best Ending" Bioware thinks of Synthesis, in which no-one dies, except Shepard's NOBLE sacrifice, and yes, you CAN get the green ending by just doing Single-player. A lot of side-quest are needed, but, yes, you can get it. Just like they said, you can get the "best" ending doing only SP. Synthesis IS the worst of the three, but that is not the point of this conversation.

Breath scene is more of an eastern egg, like Mona Sax surviving in Max Payne 2, or that hidden orbit scene from Halo 3.

1. Synthesis cannot be attained from SP alone. Minimum 4000 EMS is required. The max total TMS alone is ~7200 IIRC, and the 50% multiplier cuts that down to ~3600.

2. For Halo, that scene is canon, not an easter egg.

1. I got Synthesis option with 50% EMS with my imported Shepard, never touched multi-player on my on my first run. Remember, you get bonus 1000 point after Anderson/TIM confrontation.
2. So? Eastern egg is some little sweet thing hidden from plain sight. Not everyone played Halo 3 on Legendary, and yet Master Chief is back for Halo 4. Same with Shepard - not everyone saw breath scene, but if they are ever going to bring Shepard back, they will, even after Synthesis or Control.

1. The check for EMS is right before Cronos (Hence why the final checkpoint is set here). The only Asset you acquire after this is either the Reaper Brain or the Heart, depending on your choice about the Collector Base in ME2. If you don't have 4k+ before Cronos, then you're locked out of Synthesis. Like I said, it's impossible to get 4k without any outside assistance (Not necessarily only MP). Either recreate a 50% 4k+ and take a screenshot or I'm calling BS.

2. It doesn't matter if you played it on Legendary or not, it's canon. Remember Halo was also 100% linear, with 1 ending (Requiem being an addition to the core ending)

Specifically it's a Mike Gamble quote from Twitter. It IS NOT technically Bioware's official position. No one has yet come out and Stated that it is Bioware's stance that Synthesis is the best ending. So far as I've seen it was just Gamble speaking from a personal perspective.

I also think the option is horrific on so many levels. I would never pick it. Ever. It is the least defensible option of all three with the greatest number of ethical, moral, and intellectual problems.

It would be out of place in a fantasy story, let alone a sci-fi.

Are they trying to contradict themselves? Why make it so that you live in Destroy if Synthesis is the best ending?

You did not commit genocide. You were not aiming to destroy the geth. What the quarians were trying to do to the geth was genocide. I wish people would look at the subtleties of these issues a bit more.

Whether it's moral or not depends on whether you had another valid choice. IMO you're mad if you think that you do. Picking the lesser of two evils (or the least of three) if you've simply got no alternative is massively different from being immoral and genocidal.

4000 points for Synthesis, WHAT? You only need 2800 points to get Synthesis option. 4k+ is needed for breath scene, and this was not the point. I don't need to prove anything, because like you said, you can get ~3600 EMS with no MP. Starchild told me about the Synthesis, I ignored him. Check your facts. Speaking of which...

Getting Anderson killed by TIM is like loosing 1000 points. At least Im not calling anyone liar, I just rembered badly.

2. Now I'm lost. YES, its canon in Halo, Shepard breathing is as well. Who said there was a problem? I just called a cutscene few people can see an eastern egg and you wrestle like a bear...

1. What? Quite literally, EVERYWHERE (No matter what website) says it's 4000. Never once has it been refuted, apart from you. 4000 is required to unlock every ending. You still haven't provided me with any actual evidence about this, only anecdotes (Because those are always trustworthy).

2. I was wrong earlier. In the game files, the highest TMS possible is apparently ~8300 (take with a grain of salt), but it seems most people cap out around 7700, due a bug that still hasn't been fixed.

3. It doesn't matter if Anderson dying loses Asset points, since the final flag is checked BEFORE CRONOS STATION.

4. Except there is no "set canon" for Mass Effect, apart from the broadest, most general terms (Shepard defeated Saren, Shepard defeated the Collectors, Shepard defeated the Reapers). Halo, unlike ME, has 1 set-in-stone canon. Unless it is clearly joke material or non-canon, it's a part of the story. the Requiem addition to the Legendary ending is canon, regardless of if you saw it or not.

You need 2800 for synthesis. Which is easily obtainable with just SP

I also got Synthesis as an option without playing any multiplayer. Can't prove it since my friend has my copy of ME3, but I suppose I could upload a save file if anyone knows how to manipulate that.

according to game guides, Shepard living is NOT an easter egg. its a legit ending. actually - according to the guide, it counts as 4 separate endings. 2 with anderson "dying" and 2 with him being "saved" its split by "saved collector base" "destroyed collector base" I kid you not. photographic proof (sorry about the quality - it was let the words go blurry, or break the book's spine.).
