 Sup
I'm new to this forum, as well as D&D in general. So i'd like to ask a few quistions regarding some of the in game systems. I bought it on steam and i'm not sure if it came with a bible i mean manual

First of cross classing, what are some good ways to do this favorite classes would be barbarian, monk, and bard.
Also when i played as a barbarian/bard my bard spells from the level up before where the only ones i could use was this do to a cross class penalty (D&D initiate don't mean to ask stupid quistions).

I find myself a little confused (not much honestly) when i see the Armor Check penalty: -4 thing in alot of my armor, i understand the DEX bonus but is a negative armor check penalty a good or a bad thing?  I think good but am not sure.

Also i brought a friend with me into NVN2 and we both want to be more active (and productive) in the community. I read the read me first thing and i would like to try and stick around. :wizard: thank you for you time ^.^

For rules questions, take a look at wikia

For actual builds, take a look at www.nwn2db.com

Info on the armor check penalty Armor_check_penalty

( lot of info on the wikia and you should also read the threads here ( the stickies ), and be aware of all the content at vault
 and at nexus

Welcome to NWN2, new people are always welcome and new people who want to get involved more so.

Once you have your feet under the table and have played the OC, if that is what you want to do, then one way you can become involved is beta testing. You will see requests from time to time come up on the modules or toolset forum.

Aside from that good luck getting your head around this. There is not too much you have to learn but if you choose to know more then you could take longer at it.

Are you refering to the armour check penalty on the description. If so it is just that, a penalty for wearing the armour. You will see another for spell casting. These are the penalties for wearing that armour and trying to do something like sneak around or cast a spel by waving your arms around. I think that is the question, others may answer you if is not. Otherwise PoDE has linked you to a very fine set of bedtime reading there :)

Mounts are on the nexus as a beta, and romances are there as well. ( Easier to do romance on a PW ) There are those who love romances, those that hate them, regardless this game caters to either, just like it has mac and pc users, pvp and roleplayers, single player and multi player, and heavily modded custom stories and those who only touch official content.

There is a whole forum dedicated to PW's with info on how to join and a list of PW's. Awful lot of variety in what you will find.

Welcome to D&D & the best computer version of our game :-)

Re multi-player - When NWN2 first came out, I successfully ran through the OC with a friend via the internet - one person hosting a passworded server via the multi-player option in the start menu, the other joining - and although there was a bit of a wait sometimes on loading areas (which may have been addressed by now with new 'puters), it worked fine. Did the same with Storm of Zehir & it also ran fine, although we got a little bored of the length of the campaign & ran a few community created adventures instead. Then I started building myself........Which reminds me - if you're looking for community created adventures you can play multi-player, check the categories section - some actively advise that they're fine for multi player. From experience, some of the ones that are categorised as 'single player' work fine in multiplayer too - but sometimes some of the scripting fails & things don't work right. So if something grabs your attention - give it a go anyway & see if it works.

One thing to be aware of is if the host is running the adventure through a wireless router - you'll need to open ports (& both may need to check your firewalls are allowing info in/out) for the game to be visible on the multiplayer lobbies.

And if hosting games sounds too much like hard work - there's always the persistent worlds.

Also great to hear that you're interested in getting involved - there are a ton of different things you can get involved in, from beta testing to creating your own items, areas, creatures, whole adventures - the choice is yours.

Welcome.

Have fun.

The only thing you need to know about the manual is that you should throw it away and never look at it again, optionally burning it as well. It's full of errors and misinformation.

For questions about builds and their mechanics, check the last link in my sig. You'll most likely get overwhelmed if you check the site Pain linked right away.

Anything with the word "penalty" on its name is bad.

Thanks for the warm welcome :) any tips regarding the tool set? I have a decent connection and wouldn't mind hosting, i read somewhere that people will actually DM online? Also what is the exact difference between a persitant world and regular User made campaigns?
Thanks for all your help by the way i know alot about how games work just unfamilar with D&D itself, which is funny since almost every RPG is based of it in some way.

A persistent world (or PW for short) is something like a mini MMO. This shortchanges the PW's of course, since they often have things like live DM's running events, tight communities, and often allow the players to actually influence the world, among other things.

Regular user made campaigns are standard single or multi-player adventures. Many of them are quite good, and if you play them you'll find you probably like some better than the official content.
