Assuming that the events of the sequel only take place within the borders of one nation or region (much how DAO was set almost exclusively in Ferelden), where would you like the sequel to be set? Would you like to see the series return to Ferelden, or would you like to see it in a new locale in Thedas, or beyond?

For those who may not have been reading their codex entries, here is at least a partial list of the nations and regions mentioned:

Ferelden: The setting of Dragon Age: Origins

The Orlesian Empire: Also known as Orlais. Loosely based on medieval France, it is the most powerful nation in Thedas. The Orlesians invaded and occupied Ferelden for 80 years until being driven out by King Maric and Loghain Mac Tir at the Battle of the River Dane 30 years prior to the events of DAO.  Orlais is ruled by an absolute monarchy and there is a large divide between the haves and have nots. Leliana was raised in Val Royeaux, the capital city of Orlais.

The Anderfels: Loosely based on medieval Germany, it has a weak monarchy and is frequently torn apart by bitter internecine conflicts between the various nobles, who often war against each other as they vie for power. The Grey Wardens were founded in the Anderfels, and they continue to maintain their HQ there, at Weisshaupt Fortress. Consequently the Grey Wardens command a great deal of respect and influence within the nation. In the codex Genitivi describes the Anderfels as nation that possesses both the most devout priests and the fiercest warriors. He also calls it the poorest nation in the wold and yet the most feared.

Antiva: Loosely based on medieval Italy. It has a weak monarchy and real power in the country lies with various merchant guilds and trading companies. The nation is weak militarily, but security is maintained through fear of the Antivan Crows, notorious assassins that call Antiva home and who are often employed by the various merchant princes and nobles of Antiva as they vie for power and influence. Zevran was raised in Antiva.

The Free Marches: Not a single nation, but rather a loose collection of independent city-states that unite only when it is in the interests of each individual city state. The Free Marches are 'ruled' (using that term loosely) by an informal form of landsmeet that convenes infrequently and only during times of crisis.

The Tevinter Imperium: Once a vast Empire that ruled much of Thedas, it has been in decline for centuries and the Imperium is now only a shadow of it's former glory. It is ruled by an aristocracy of mages, and has been fighting for it's survival against Qunari expansion in the north of Thedas for over a century. It was mages of the Tevinter Imperium that originally tried to usurp the power of the Maker, and consequently brought about the first Blight. Elven slavery is also legal in Tevinter, unlike much of Thedas.

Nevarra: Loosely based on medieval Spain, Nevarra is famous for it's dragon-hunters that almost hunted the dragons to extinction. At one time it was the primary source of dragonbone in the world.  Not much is said about Nevarra in the codex, but unlike much of the rest of Thedas they do not cremate their dead and instead are buried in elaborate tombs in a vast necropolis outside the capital city.

Rivain: Populated by dark-skinned humans, I assume Rivain is loosely based on an African nation. In Rivain Elves enjoy greater rights and freedoms that they do in most of Thedas, and the Dalish also have a permanent settlement there. The humans of Rivain do not follow the teachings of the Chantry, and instead worship many gods. Some have also converted to the Qun however, and the Qunari people also maintain a settlement there.

Par Vollen: The tropical homeland of the Qunari. It is ruled by a militant-expansionist theocracy and is the most technologically advanced nation in the known world.

Seheron: An island nation off the coast of the Tevinter Imperium. I'm not sure if much of anything about Seheron is in the codex. It is a former Tevinter client-state that is now in Qunari hands, and a frequent site of battles between the Qunari and the Imperium.

Antiva , because I like playing Rogues most and the homeland of the Antivan crows would likely be the most interesting place to play a Rogue at

Orlais, with Par Vollen a close second. But really, does it have to be only one? Who knows what the geographic scope of the next game will be.

Clearly the opinions vary drastically. :)

Arl Foreshadow seems to suggest that the next game will be in Orlais. But that is only foreshadow. I certainly wouldn't mind a bit more exploration of the Empire; the idea of a imperial culture that was based on France was just different enough to be interesting. How French is it? Is the accent the extent of the similarity to French culture, or is it more than that? As the dialogue and Codex entries seem to suggest that Orlais is also the stronghold of the Andrastian Chantry, is it a hyper-religious country? Will there be any similarities to Rome, if that is the case? I don't think there is an example of a fantasy empire that take inspiration from France in any of the available material to date, and thus the introduction of something that takes a step away from the norm is fascinating to me.

And, similar to an above post, I like playing rogues. Clearly Orlais, as the origin point of DA's bardic tradition, will have plenty of rogue opportunities, if perhaps more of the "silver tongued" rogue than than the "shadowy assassin" rogue.

I'm thinking Orlais, it's closest to Ferelden and for a Dalish elf PC could have you visiting The Dales (just over the Frostback Mounts). Plus this is the direction Morrigan goes in after the final battle. I would love, love to see Weisshaupt Fortress but from looking at the map of Thedas, it seems pretty far away from Orlais (and Arl Foreshadow DID hint at things moving over there in the next game). Granted, I would love to see all the nations eventually.

Also, another thing about Orlais.. that is where all the other Grey Wardens were hanging out during Origins, perhaps they were at Val Royeaux waiting to march onwards to Ostagar or they could have been as east as Jader (which I think is a town Leilana has spent much time in, based on some dialogue options). But then again, at the end of my game, Anora was all like "Here, the Grey Wardens can have Highever" and it says my PC as rebuilding the Grey Wardens in Armantine (near Highever) which is just northeastern Ferelden really. I would love to hook up with the Orlesian Grey Wardens and take all the Grey Wardens back to Weisshaupt Fortress and maybe give Armanthine up to some Grey Warden supporters.

Orlais, chasing rumors of a Grey Warden sect there that has managed to secret away and protect a small group of surviving gryphons.

Anywhere but Orlais, for voice over reasons alone, no way in hell I want to listen to 1000 Isoldes for 40 hours.

Tevinter gets my vote.

In case you didn't know, most of the territories in Thedas are based on European countries, there is only a few that aren't, one being Par Vollen which is a tropical island chain with rainforests and the like and is home of the Qunari (so lots of people talking like sten )

I think the next one will be based either in Orlais or Anderfels and we will somehow be able to make our way into Kal-Sharok (which is under the mountains that seperate the two nations (akin to Orzammar being between Ferelden and Orlais) even though at this time they are allegedly cut off from the rest of the world and from what I've read on it, sounds like some ominous things are going on down there.

http://dragonage.wik...wiki/Kal-Sharok

Also of course they have the old connection with the Tevinter Imperium, I reckon we will eventually get to that territory as I think they are slowly going to be playing a more bigger part in the story, namely because they worshiped the old-gods/dragons and of course we are in the dragon age in which dragons are slowly making a reappearance after having thought to have been wiped out.

Any other country, preferably those that havent been mentioned a lot yet, for new insights into the setting. Also I definitely dont want to be Grey Warden again in the second part lol being Grey Warden sucks ! But thinking about it, maybe we cant avoid it, as people will want to slaughter Dragons again.

Call me nuts, but Id like the game to start off where your ending left you.
If you died and were carted off to the grey wardens tomb, itd be interesting to awaken in the tomb.
Or if bioware is going the path of a new character for DA2.
I would very much like that new avatar to follow a path thats related to story events.
If you said you'd visit Ducans home land that would be the place to start.
If said youd hunt a certin witch well then, you see where this is going.
Regaurdless if  we contunie or start new origins,
I definately would like to spend the first hour or two resolving what happend.
Then  heck id like to see all the other nations in DA.
Imagine the story could be so epic you have to travel to every nation for aid or to take over?

They've hinted at a lot. Whether they actually do something.. we'll see. Is there even going to be a sequel? All of the dlc stuff is going to be before the final battle of this version. Although I've read there is a map in the toolset that lets you see the "world."

Assuming there is a sequel..

I think they'll do something with Orlais. After all, Morrigan gives you that ring which "might" help you find her. At the end, there's that bit about her going across Frostback (which leads to Orlais). Pretty obvious cliff hanger. Or maybe I'm just projecting. ;)

I could see Antiva and Par Vollen as well. Ingnatio tells you to look up the crows if you're ever there. Par Vollen, because when you talk to Sten; he hints that the Qunari plan to invade Ferelden. Probably why the Barasaad was sent there in the first place.

Then again, at the end..there's that bit about how the darkspawn are still a problem and that's a tale for a different hero...so who knows?

I would love to see the sequel be set in the Anderfels. I think of all the regions mentioned in the game, the Anderfels sound the most interesting. Plus, I'd love to be able to visit Weisshaupt Fortress.

I wouldn't be dissapointed if the sequel is set in Orlais though, as that would probably be my second choice.

I just hope their as quick with the sequel for DA as the were for Mass Effect.

As for the topic of discussion I'll say Tevinter Imperium.

I think that the sequel as such may be related to Morrigan's child, the babe with the soul of an Old God. There's not much of the darkspawn stuff left right now to build up a whole new story on it as the darkspawn were hit hard and who knows when they'll dig up another old dragon from some dirt pile. Whether we'd get to use our "old chars" or no is a question because if the child in the sequel would be an adult, then our "old char" would literally be old and probably about to keel over from the taint (unless Avernus found something to eliminate that little thing with Grey Wardens). Whether the child would be evil or good, who knows, or maybe you'd have to accompany him or her and "mold" him or her into either a good person or evil, whichever you prefer. And there would be buggers who would try to oppose him or her and you out of fear of.. well, anything, thinking that maybe he or she would want to become a "god" for real and rule the world or whatever. And obviously there would be parties who would want to exploit and use the situation and that babe and would try to get their hands or claws or tentacles or whatever on him or her and again, mold that babe for their own needs. Heck, maybe even sacrifice or do some ritual to suck out that Old God soul.

Just an idea, speculation, but seems that one possible way because, as I said, not much of the darkspawn related stuff would be left after the last Blight got ended.

The Elder Scrolls kinda took a tour of the regoins: Daggerfall, Redguard, Morrowind, Cyrodiil, Skyrim, etc. While this is not Elder Scrolls (don't need two of 'em any way), maybe this series can have a longer lifespan to focus on different nations...

but then, maybe we can simply add to the explored areas, say like having Ferelden and adding Orlais next time, then adding a region each succession until the final one which covers all of Thedas, which leads to an MMO. :)

I'd prefer to see the sequel start off in Ferelden. They already have most all of the map areas created. There shouldn't be a good reason they couldn't reuse existing content. I want to see the aftermath of our activities in Orzamar, Denerim, etc. I want to see Lothering rebuilt, among other things.

As for new areas, I think I'd like to have expansion(s) take us into Orlais, Antiva, and ultimately the Tevinter Imperium. I would like to be able to carry my existing character(s) through the entire series from Origins to the end.

The gaming world needs an alternative to MMORPGs. I hope DA:X can be a sort of MSPRPG (Massively Single Player RPG)

I like the feeling of a semi-persistent world, but with us having the ability to effect change in it.
