I just recenly downloaded the latest patch through steam. Now every time i start the game it says that i dont have the right DLC to continue my game. When i check my dlc browser it says unauthorized next to Wardens Keep, Collectors Editor, Memory Band, and Stone Prisoner. But somehow my Blood Dragon Armor, Wicked Oath, and The Lucky Stone are just fine. What the heck is going on?

Same problem here, though downloaded patch for a CD copy. One DLC is now unauthorized, Stone Prisoner.

Generally the result of the Dragon Age Content Updater Service not running. Go to the Services List (start menu, run services.msc) and find the service and start it before starting the game.

If it doesn't start, or is missing there, is more troubleshooting tips available in the Redeemed DLC sticky, section 3.2

The Services List method worked for me! Suggest changing it to automatic start also. Thanks Kepha!

Yes, running the daupdater service fixes this. You can even (at least to a certain extent, though I cannot say where the limit is) play offline as long as this service is running.

However, be aware that this service performs more in the service of EA than authorize your DLC.

*bump*

I moved my steamapps folder so it was necessary to modify the service path. The reg key on my system is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SYSTEM\\\\ControlSet001\\\\Services\\\\DAUpdaterSvc

Modify the 'ImagePath' to point to the new location.

I have this same problemwith Stone Prisoner. Thing is, every time I run DA, I have to open the services.msc. And yes, I have changed it to automatic. Someone knows what do I have to do to solve this?

There is a beta fix which for me has mostly fixed the issues with the Content Updater service not starting automatically upon game launch.

Instead of clicking "Resume Game", I click on "Load Game" and pick the most recent file. That got me passed the Unauthorized DLC crap. Im on a PC. Hope that helps some of you guys.

Yep I am having the same problem as most ya'lls. I have been in the thread mentioned above and have done every concievable option that made sense to fix this. Though some of the instructions of how to fix had me shaking my head and going "huh"? Not a damn thing worked and this started before I downloaded 1.04 patch.

I have discovered if I log into the servers while I am in a game all my DLC's are authorized and everything is hunky dory.(if this helps anyone who is fed up as I am). If I log in at the main menu level and try to go into a game my DLCs are showing as unauthorized and Alistair turns up naked because the Warden Commander armor has disappeared. So after spending 6+ hours dicking around with this issue I quit. Will just log in during a game and be done with it. Am on PC too, think I will go play DAO on my xbox for a bit before I use my axe to cleave something.

No it doesn't fix the problem. I've tried that already.

Hmm...By any chance, did everyone here like myself buy the game recently? My box says that the DLC can be claimed until July 30th. Its August 1st and this is happening. The way I got passed it was by deactivating and reactivating the Blood Dragon Armor. Try spam-clicking them.

I had a similar problem after installing patch 1.04 and was able to solve it (hopefully for good). See the following thread for details:

changing the registry path that spaceyjase posted is what fixed it for me, because I had uninstalled steam and reinstalled it to a different directory.

I've been getting weird "unauthorized" messages too but if I leave it at the main menu for a bit then try again it lets me in, almost as if it's taking a lot longer to log in than what it is indicating.

Edit: That is just standard PC, not through Steam and it's only been happening after the 1.04 patch. This patch seems to have caused a world of problems for me. I might just grab my saves and reinstall everything to patch 1.03.

The only sure way I have found to load a saved game with DLC content after DA:O launch is as follow:

- from main menu, check that you are logged in then select Downloadable Content

- wait for the Points Balance to be updated

- close panel

- click again Downloadable Content

- this time you should see your installed DLC on a green background and the Points Balance in update mode again

- wait for Points Balance to be updated

- close panel and load your saved game.

You only have to proceed this way on your first load after DA:O launch. Once this is done, you can directaly load games during the same session.

It seems that I am not the only one having this problem. I did download Leliana's Song. It was dowloaded 100% and fully installed (or so it did say at least). Now I cannot load my saved games because it says that they have content from Leliana's Song which is now unauthorized. When I check this from the Dowloadble tab it really says that Leliana's Song is truly unauthorized. I cannot understand why. All the other DLC are ok.

This is really irritating!! I cannot load my recent saved games. Funny thing is that some old saves from the same characters seems to work but they are days behind and I really do not want to start from there again! Also the saved games from my other character seems to work ok.

Any idea how to fix? Hopefully someone can help me. Although this should be Bioware / EA responsibility. They have made really crappy system in DLC.

What you might try to is instead of logging in at the main menu, log in while you are in active gameplay in your most recent saves. When I do this all my DLC's show up as authorized and enabled. (Except Lel's Song. In my case I can't get this one to work at all) If I log into the main screen and then go into a saved game I get the error message and can't go in at all. I have tried every suggestion to fix on the forum and nothing has worked. This is the only way I have found to get around this.

Unintall and reinstall have helped some but I don't want to go this route since I don't want to lose my high up characters. I have also emailed Bioward for suggestions and they gave me options that were the first things I did to try solving this problem so they were no help. So you might try my suggestion above and see what happens :o)

My sincerest apologies for my rather heated post earlier, I was highly disappointed when I could not access my saved games due to the "unauthorized" DLC stuff, so I did some research, played with a few things and I believe I've nailed down the general issue.

For me, it turned out that it was my router settings. Once I fixed the port issues and made sure the proper ports were forwarded and everything had access that it needed, I reloaded the game and bam, everything was ready to go.  I did notice that when I enabled the DMZ I actually had quite a bit of problems, but when I disabled it and did the port forwarding the right way, I was able to get the content just fine and everything was authorized.

Granted, this could simply be a matter of "coincidence" and I may have this problem tomorrow morning again, but atleast for the moment, I'm able to play and enjoy the game again.
