guys i have the solution and it works 10000000% promise so this is what you have to do<br />
<br />
Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/Users/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings" and edit it using WordPad or any XML editor. Replace all RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".<br />
<br />
Run the game and check to see if everything worked!<br />
<br />
<br />
if it worked say it here so that the others can see that it worked

:wizard: PERFECT!

Mine still doesn't work. I downloaded Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition - PC from Steam and none of the add-on DLC is working.

It all says unauthorized.

I am seriously confused on why I paid for this game and now have to dig through forums and all over the internet to get my content to work?

What is the Bioware cust serv number so I can get my money back?

You are in the Self-Help forums where gamers ask other gamers for advice. As every forum of that type here all tells everyone, EA handles official support, and there's a link to their pages at the bottom of every page here.

LOL, that was ridiculous. All of these complicated solutions to fix the "unauthorized" problem and it turns out to be a Windows Vista issue fixed by running as Admin.

WORKS: CONFIRMED. RUN AS ADMIN NOW>>>>>>>>

I had the same issue with mine and the following worked for me. I just logged into my account from the game, exited, then checked "installed content" tab and found it was all installed without the "unauthorized" b.s. I would have to look and see how to login while in game, but it gave me the choice through a dialogue response "(Download content) insert response here." I'm sure you can do it otherwise as well.

To whom it may concern...
Not sure if it's already posted in this thread so let me re-iterate:
Problem: The Steam and Impulse versions of the game (this also applies to the EA Download Manager and perhaps other Digital Download versions) do not show the DLCs in the Downloadable Content window of the main game menu (the list is always empty), or the DLCs say "Unauthorized" beside them and I lose the DLC in-game items.
Solution: If Steam is not running as admin, it will not be able to install the Dragon Age Updater service when it installs the game. The first symptom of this is that the DLCs that should be available with your version of the game will not be in the list of Downloadable Content (the list will be empty).

To install the service, run cmd.exe as administrator (press windowskey + r, type cmd and run), change to the bin_ship directory under the Dragon Age install directory (for Steam this will be ...\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship) and run this command:

%WINDIR%\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\installutil.exe daupdatersvc.service.exe
(Note: if you don't have .NET 2.0.50727 installed, you might have installutil.exe somewhere else on your system, search for it)
The next problem you will probably have is that after downloading the content and playing for a while, your downloadable content will disappear. Do not save whenever you see this happen, just exit. In the Downloadable Content window, Installed Content tab, you will probably see that most or all of the DLCs will be marked "Unauthorized". This is because the service you installed above needs to be running anytime the game runs, but the game is supposed to start it and stop it automatically when the game starts up and when you quit, respectively. This will happen even if you set the service to Automatic. The problem is that because of broken permissions, the game can stop the service but cannot start it. So you would have to start it manually every time you want to play the game. To fix the permissions, once again run cmd.exe as administrator, and run this command:

sc sdset daupdatersvc D:(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;SY)(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA)(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRCRPWPDT;;;AU)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;PU)
From then on, the game will be able to start and stop the service correctly and you can leave it in Manual mode so it only runs when needed. Note however that it may happen, if you start the game and skip the intro screens too quickly, that the service will not have had time to start when you load your game, and it will say "This game relies on premium content and cannot be loaded". Just wait a second and try again, this will give the service time to start and confirm that you have the right to use the "premium content" your savegame was referring to.

PS: Tried this and it worked perfectly. Spent a few hours to get to this solution though :))

@KeynoL:

Thanks for the solution -- it works perfectly for me after downloading the Ultimate Edition with the EA Downloader (or Origin... bit of a confusing name I think...)

Thanks! :)

EA, its only partly in the game. The rest you can get from helpfull co-gamers. The steam-admin thing worked.

Still, EA seems unable to put something on steam properly, its the second game of them i got which uses questionable tactics.

Finally I found how to fix this. None of this worked for me at all. I tried many times and I have it installed to a different hard drive. I purchased it on amazon and it was an origin copy. If you go into your "c:\\users\\*insert user name here*\\documents\\bioware\\dragon age\\settings" and edit the addins.xml file, replace everything that says "requiresAuthorization = 1" to requiresAuthorization = 0

It works. Believe it or not, EA actually was able to help me on this one. But it wasn't until after I sat on the chat for 10 minutes while the guy never said anything except "engrish" I couldn't understand.. but hey It is working now. I hate EA tech support.

MrFuzzy,

Worked like a charm. All DLC now have the "unauthorized" label off and look to be usable. Head's up, I had to use wordpad to make the changes. Word2010 and the windows XML editor would not allow me to make changes.

MrFuzzy! You are todays hero! : ) Seems to work perfect! Thanks a lot! A LOT of people would like to hear about this one I think!

Btw... I just right clicked on the file, chosed edit, put the editor at search for the word "required" and simply changed all the values, then saved... Made a copy of the file before I changed it, just for safety...

Haven´t really tried to start a new character yet but it says enabled in every DLC... No warning at start up...

Promising! : )
