It amazes me that no one has bothered to get back to us about this issue even though so many seem to be facing the same problem.

It amazes me that no one has bothered to get back to us even though this seems to be a major issue and is hurting Bioware's credibility a lot.

pretty rubish that the servers are still down after this length of time, someone screwed up bad. I cant believe they dont have a server design that has built in redundency or at least a disaster recovery plan. Only reason a half decent IT engineer wouldnt have these in place is if he's got no budget, so my guess is that EA just cheaped out on their server infrastructure.

hanibal.gr's solution of:

Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/Users/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings" and edit it using WordPad or any XML editor. Replace all RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".

Worked for me after an hour of trying other suggestions. Thank you hanibal.gr!

Ugh, this is ridiculous! I can't play a single player game until they fix their drm servers?! Tried the 1's to 0's xml tip and I was able to load my save but Shale was gone, my dagger was gone and my companion's armor was gone. That's not gonna work....

You know, it really, REALLY troubles me that we have posts in this thread which are 8+ months old reporting this problem. . . And BioWare STILL doesn't have a fix for it.

Hey BioWare: If you're reading this, do us a favor and at least stop saying "We're working on it." Either fix it or f*** it. The longer you keep BSing us, the less likely we are to believe you (and be damned if I'm ever going to try Mass Effect after all this nonsense).

Just thought I'd pitch in and say my DLC has all become unauthorized too. Here's hoping that Bioware leaves this with no fix

I found a workaround for this. It's an issue with the DAO AND Da2 server as all my DLC on both games wont work. Here is what I did:

run the game
LOG OUT (not exit the game), but log out of the DA servers in either game
EXIT the game
re run the game
DO NOT LOG IN

This will run the game in OFFLINE mode. Since your DLC was originally authorized when you installed it, it "should" work

This trick let me run DAOA and DA2 despite their server issues

I suppose u could just shut off your router, dsl, or cable modem before you start the game to do the same as the above ;)

Wait... is DA2 also experiencing issues?  I haven't seen any posts about it in the DA2 PC Forum...

Hey everyone; I don't frequent the forums except for tech-support issues (which I have had a discouraging amount of between DAO and the Mass Effect games), but I thought I'd stop in and throw my hat into this ring, as well. My DLC also stopped working last night, but staying logged out seems to fix the problem.

It's a bit ridiculous, really. I have no problem with DRM, I understand you've got to protect your IP, but if it's crippling the game then nobody wins but the pirates anyway. Whatever happened to plain old CD Keys? I really dislike this "have to stay connected to play" stuff people like to do these days. Seems like more trouble than its worth, especially when it gives you issues like this.

So the problem is even bigger which would normally mean you put a greater effort into resolving it.... Maybe not lol!

The ironic thing is that this problem only effects legitimite customers who are trying to support the developers by buying the software, but if I had just cracked the DLC I would be fine. DRM at it's finest by the sounds of things - Screwing over paying customers and not effecting pirates!

I'm really getting sick of DRM punishing legit people, good grief when will people learn that DRM doesnt work. Most games are cracked the day they come out so it doesnt even slow down people who want to pirate them.

Can't believe for a single player offline game you have to be connected to there damm servers to even play. If I knew this I would of never bought dragon age. Ill never buy another of there games for this reason.

No, don't miss the point, DRM does what it's supposed to - it delays the priates long enough so idiots like ourselves who think they're doing right by buying a License to these games become itchy to play, pay up, only to see 2 or 3 months later, the whole game cracked, fully working and with their own online private servers and communities. Just saying. DRM works like a charm for what they want it to do.

Blah, I've tried every trick and I still can't get my toon's save to reappear. Every bit of my game is offline, I have yet to even download any of the online stuff. How is it even affecting my game then?

If I wanted online servers and random crashes, I'd log into WoW instead >_<

This is beyond absurd.  I've tried every trick here and none work.  Tech support is brain damaged.  I just wished I had paid attention and seen this was an EA game as this is their M.O.

I want to find the "genius" that came up with the log in BS for this game and throw them in the ocean.

I want my money back.

Just wanting to add my (very annoyed) voice to the multitudes about having suddenly run into this problem.
Not having an ETA! lol. nice work there. If the IT business I work with ran our online services like this, mate we'd not have any customers left anymore.

Wow...over 8 months of the same problem. I just loaded this game on to another computer and I'm having the same issue. What's the point in paying for it if there is no support?..I guess I'll do it the easy way and see if I can find someone the cracked this problem outside of a ****ty tech support team that won't do anything about. Having worked Tech Support even I can say this is Ridiculous.

If worse, EA will get bad publicity and that will not bring anything good to it's already bad taste when it comes to the way they treat their costumers when this problem with the servers is not being fixed and working properly.

They should really work more on how to help those that plays their online games with a proper staff and not so incompetent personal that doesn't know what the hell they are doing.
In other words, EA should listen to those that buys EAs games and plays them, the so called costumers. This is my point of view on this matter.

nice for you,  but for me it wont, because i have spend lot of times trying to solve the problem, and nothing i found worker, so i have try to reinstall the game.  now i dont have the dlc installed.  this trick only work if you have the DLC already installed,  and even then, you will lose some items.

I still have the same problem but I'm very upset and it seems they don't fix the serverproblem at all.
Been awake 2 days straight trying to solve my game work but I will get some sleep now and try to calm down..
