well, I am on 4th walktrough, 4 more to go.
still have hope for EC but ME3 is wasted potential. we fight on Tuchanka but not with Krogans arm in arm. we fight on Surkesh but we got only 1 scene with Kirrahe. then on Earth but not together with any ally . I understand small teams firefights on N7 missions , but I( really hoped for bigger scale battles. Even CoD games look better in this regard

I'm just having a hard time believing that the EC will really change anything. Bioware said that it's not a different ending at all. That statement alone makes it hard to go back to the game. :(

I think if Bioware would have tried to hold out against all the backlash from the fans and not even announced the Extended Cut. Then a LOT of the players in this community would have given up all hope and moved on a long time ago.

Clearly this DLC is not a waste of time if it can succeed in getting more people to actually play the game again.

the issue is though the same people who caused the backlash pretty much stated they will not download the ec but watch it on youtube

that to me says they already made up there minds on where they stand when nothing was even mentioned on it regarding specific story details

For now, yes. I've plowed through it four times, twice and then twice with ME3 career imports, so I'm set until the EC---and then I'll crank through the whole thing again.

I've been playing multiplayer ME3 because I still love the combat in the ME games - the powers etc. But yeah, the single player has taken a backseat for the moment, once I see the EC I guess that will decide for me whether I get back into the single player again.

I never hated the ending, a more accurate description of my reaction would be "hmmm...meh", but while it stays that way, I can't say I really want to play it all over again. I really hope that the EC raises it from "hmmm...meh" to "okay, that's acceptable" (I'm being realistic, hell if it turns it into "**** YEAH THAT IS AMAZING" then great) because that will be enough to get me into playing it again. Otherwise I guess I might come back to it later even if it remains "meh"

dude why? its free dlc your not paying a dime for it

at least download it that way you have a legit reason to give an opinion on it

watching it on youtube imo is pointless and dosent really give you the right to critisize since you didnt play it yourself

play what though? its just extra dialog , theres no gameplay as far i know? plus the "ending" is not changing ,again as far they have said they could just be "lying" so they dont add any hype as they did before.

Well in that case if the haters hold out no hope for the EC why the hell are they still here annoying us?

Regardless of what I personally think of the ending I think Bioware deserve a chance at improving their product.

The notion that EC will change things so significantly that the ending will be salvaged and worth additional playthroughs is a pipe dream. The EC will be a token fix so that Bioware can claim to have listened to its fans, but there is no way that a simple expanded epilogue will fix the fundamental problems. If you're holding back your next playthrough with the expectation that the EC will make a difference, then prepare to be disappointed.

The point is though, you don't work 3/4 months on a simple expanded dialogue

well its alot of work to add the dialog the way you want it and animations etc.
so i dont know... yet again as i have said before they could be just "lying" to us about the Extended cut is only dialog when its infact much more than that, it remains to be seen :police:

I have not played SP since the first week of launch because of the terrible ending and playing a come were ur choices dont matter when that used to be a major part just seems pointless. I have only played MP since then and am starting to get bored of it. Why did Bioware have to mess up the ending so bad. Whyd the promise closure and 16 different endings when theres only like 1 ending but three diferent colors.

I havn't been able to touch the game at all since I finished it and seen the one ending we got on the disk. I doubt the EC will change anything but I know I won't be playing it at all until I see what they do. They litterally killed all replay value that was built into the first two games. :crying:

Edit: I never started playin Mass Effect to play MP so that is really uninteresting...

Yeah, I was getting a little annoyed with a few things about the game (lame dream sequences, endless cameos when I'd have given anything for an ME2 character to save my rubbish squad and some other things) but overall I liked it, and I'd managed to go into it pretty much completely blind (about all I'd gathered was that people were mad about the ending, but that was it) until I came to the spoiler-free forum here.
I don't know why they even call it a spoiler-free forum, I had the ending laid out for me within about 0.5 seconds of clicking on a thread that wasn't even supposed to say what happened in the end.
After that, and hearing about the extended cut, I reasoned that if I complete it now with the spoilered ending, I'm probably not going to bother playing it through again just for the extended cut since I'm busy and a slow player. So I'll just wait and play Skyrim until the EC comes out and hopefully the EMS thing has been looked at. that way I can feel like I don't completely know how the ending will go again. Probably have to start a fresh game though.
I would like to know one thing - I AM a slow player, I like to pootle about and do side things etc, so I got about 60-odd hours out of ME1 & 2. Is this one really only about 20-30? A friend told me I'd hit about the halfway point and I was a little sad as I thought it would last me longer.

Haven't touched the single player game since I finished my first play through, about a week and a half after release. Haven't touched MP since about a week after that. Won't touch the game again until after I read fan reviews of the EC.

This is the first BioWare game I've ever purchased that I gave up on after only a couple of weeks, and the only BioWare game I've only played through once (or more accurately, played from start to finish -- I did try a second game at a certain save from my first game to see another other ending).

The EC is literally going to determine whether I ever again play the Mass Effect series, or simply shelve the three games to collect dust for good.

I am a slow player too and i love to have every single side mission, possible war asset collected. besides, dont know about others, but after every side mission (n7 one, not eavesdrop cause those are not really sidemissions) i tend to run around ship because every npc - squadmate has something new to say each time.
and ofcourse after almost every priority mission i do the ship routine and go back to citadel to hear some new npc-s chatter and see if there are some new eavesdrops to hear.

it took me about 55 hours both time i played to finish it.

in comparison, it took me maybe 70 hours to finish me 2 with all dlc-s and 60-65 for me 1.

Haven't so much, given up, as I just have no desire to play a game that can't be won.

I completed the game once and stopped my second Shepard right before the point of no return. I'll stop edging (tee hee) that Shepard when the EC comes out. Until then, not touching it.

Yes, but only very slowly. I'd a few saves lined up for ME3 so I decided to roll with a second one. It's not much fun this time around knowing what's coming (although it's had its moments such as when I gave Vega the job of disabling the AA guns on the Rescue Koris mission). With ME2 I started a second playthrough straight away that used every moment of my spare time until I'd finished with it.
