Hell lets ramp up the cheese and have a Return of the Jedi ending with ME3 music! I'd pay twice for that dlc!!

I wanted one, yeah, i am really into all then melodramatic stuff.

But when cross-eyed Harby fried Shep, and he was barely alive limping to the stupid beam i was like "Yep, Shep is going to die". But i sure as hell wasn't expecting this nihilistic nonsense of an ending,

I would lay waste to the galaxy to be with Ashley one last time. Or Wrex even. I could care less about the galaxy truth be told, just my brothers in arms!

I would have prefered to have the possibility of a happy ending, but that's not even comparable to my desire for all the endings to make chuffing sense.

I got a happy ending. I destroyed the Reapers, the relays and the citadel so future civilization can evolve on their own merrits, just as I intended.

People don't want a happy ending they want a perfect one.

Destroy with 5.000 EMS is happy enough if you ask me (if you really, really want Shepard to live) but wanting the Reapers destroyed, the Relays intact and everyone dancing in the beach IMHO would really cheapen a story about a galactic war with people sacrificing many things, including their very lives, to reach victory.

Well lets be honest, with the lack of epilogue anything could happen.

I'm choosing to believe they fixed up the Normandy and were back in time for supper. :3

Since I'm not some emo arm cutter or some goth weirdo, I have no problem with a happy ending option. A lot has already been lost, and this is fiction. In fiction, anything goes. Including a small group of heroes beating overwhelming odds for a bright dose of triumph.

Mass Effect is not the f***ing nightly news. If one thinks all entertainment has to be grim and dark, all in the interests of "edginess and realism", there are plenty of indie film channels on satellite television for those kind of tastes. Mass Effect usually has a little something for everybody.

Yeah I'll say it.

I did want to have a happy ending.

Not MLP style happy, but essentially just a subtle and relieved ending, where everyone got through intact.

Like you know, imagine Shepard walking on the beach in Rio, still in his wrecked armor with a pistol held loosely in his hand, he steps into the ruins of a bar, with the counter miraculously intact, to sit down with his squad and have a goddamn drink.

I'd have been fine with a happy ending option, but I can live without it. If Bioware want to kill Shepherd to make really really sure it's the end of the story, sure, go ahead. Have fun. Just give me a good ending in the process.

Honestly I find that whole argument to be so silly. It's like people think Mass Effect has some sort of deep, ultra mature story in the first place. It's silly over the top space opera and has been from the first game onward, laden with fan service and wish fulfillment.

In fact, part of the reason these endings fail so hard is that Bioware seem to have confused themselves into thinking their game is not silly over the top space opera.

Heck, it's not even Metal Gear Solid (which is unbelievably silly but not only recognizes that, it revels in it) which was wearing it's 'I AM PHILOSOPHICAL' badge from game one.

You can't get that playing single player only.

I would have liked one of the endings to be happy, at least for my paragon Fem Shep.

The thing is you can't have one happy ending and then in the others Shepard sacrifices himself. Otherwise they would become pointless and everyone just goes for the happy ending. I am not scared of saying I want a happy ending at all. I don't need one, all I need is a better ending. It just doesn't make sense to have multiple endings where Shepard dies and then have one where Shepard is reunited with his whole team again.

I would have liked to have a "happy ending", if the player managed to get an extremely high EMS score and did everything correctly throughout the course of the trilogy. I see it as not so much a cop-out, but a recognition of player skill and effort for being there every step of the way throughout Shepard's story.

Having a happy ending where Shepard lives would have been a nice option but I honestly expected Shepard to die at the end. Or maybe even take the Normandy with him/her in a final blaze of glory. Of course since Shepard already “died” at the beginning of ME2 its use of him/her dying would be almost cliché.

A Disney like ending would have probably involved singing and everyone living to see their home worlds again but at least it would have made SENSE.

But, you can make lots of terrible decisions or never play the whole triology and still get a very high EMS score by just playing lots of multiplayer..

I wouldn't begrudge other players a happy ending, I just don't get having 1 good ending along with 3 possible bad endings.

Use IT though and give us a real ending instead where Shepard lives and everything makes sense.

Bolded is a strawman; nobody said they wanted a dance party.

Also, the "Shepard lives" ending means nothing unless it is expanded upon. At present it is nothing more than an Easter egg.

I wanted a happy ending but would have been happy with an ending with no plot-holes or an ending that doesn't feel evil.

I've posted before, in other topics and polls that I wanted a happy ending.

Right now I have one via high EMS and my head canon. I also got one via the Epilogue Slides site (see the post on this board, if you haven't tried it it is really fantastic).

If the EC destroys my head canon happy ending, I'll delete it from my hd and go back to my head canon.

No dancing, my Shep lives and the Reapers are destroyed. No dancing because this victory came (supposedly at the Geth and EDI's life, but I think the brat was lying as my Shep lived and he heavily hinted that Shep would die and he didn't) I can create many ways for Shep to reunite with LI and crew.

Hate to spoil the party, but how on earth do you get a happy squad reunion if you just chose the Synthesis option?

How about several good endings and several bad endings, depending on how you played Shepard?

DAO did that very well.  In fact, two people could see the same ending and depending on how they played their Warden that ending could be viewed a happy or sad.
