People don't want a happy ending they want a perfect one.

No.

Perfect ending went out the window as soon as the Reapers hit earth.

Destroy with 5.000 EMS is happy enough if you ask me (if you really, really want Shepard to live) but wanting the Reapers destroyed, the Relays intact and everyone dancing in the beach IMHO would really cheapen a story about a galactic war with people sacrificing many things, including their very lives, to reach victory.

I don't mind the relays being wrecked as long as it's shown they didn't do an Arrival.

Reapers destroyed and the survivors (including Shepard) looking out on a blasted Loondon, or a field of wrecked ships, or a row of bodies covered in blankets would be totally appropriate.

My own thought would actually be of Shepard delivering a eulogy at Anderson's funeral would be a great way to end the trilogy (or Hackett delivering one at Shepard's if you prefer dead protagonists.)

I couldn't give a s*** about a happy ending. But I wanted a ending, I wanted to know what happened the Normandy and her crew, and what happened the Galaxy because of my choices, but what I got was a abrupt ending (I hate to say ending as there was none). Its like someone started a sentence and never finished it.

The ending is just depressing. Truly, they went all out with the sacrifice brush, jesus. Two other works recently that I've experience are Halo: Reach and Saving Private Ryan, both are based on loss and sacrifice. Hell, the former has the entire squad die and the planet glassed, the latter has Hanks and everyone else bar Ryan and one other squad member die, but seriously, both are more uplifting than this piece of bull.

I never really said I didn't want a happy ending. A happy ending is just not on top of my priority list right now.

Given EC is not going to create new or changed endings, expanding a happy one is all I have left to hope for

Well lets be honest, with the lack of epilogue anything could happen.

I'm choosing to believe they fixed up the Normandy and were back in time for supper. :3

that was jokers last line "Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for brekfast" but they removed it:devil:

I've never been ashamed of wanting an upbeat, optimistic ending. ME3 is, after all, a video game. It's supposed to be fun and entertaining. Real life can be grim enough.

A choice, and some variations between 'happy' and 'dismal' are what the majority of us wanted.

Before StarChild, I was okay with the Crucible serving the purpose of annihilating the Reapers as my Shep bled out with Anderson. I assumed that I hadn't done everything as well as I could've, and was getting a so-so ending to match my choices.

Of course, I also expected some kind of epilogue to show the rest of my friends reacting to my death, etc.

That obviously didn't happen.

But what's wrong with having some variation? Why can't Shep live happily ever after in one scenario? And why should anyone feel ashamed of wanting that?

the stigma has come from a weak argument about art and theme or somthing I think some people forget what the big selling point of mass effect was and that was choice and shepherd being your shepherd so it's a big let down not to have a range of ending fom happy bittersweet and down right depressing all we got was depressing.

I wanted the ending to be affected by the choices you made. So yes, I did want Shepard to live in one of the endings and celebrate the fall of the Reapers with his squadmates by having a drinking competition with Garrus. It annoys me when people think that the only ending that should exist are the dark and depressing ones where the protagonist sacrifices themselves or something like that. It's getting really cliché now. I'm not saying that a depressing ending shouldn't exist, I'm actually saying that you should get the ending that you deserve based on your choices. Shepard is after all, the player's character.

The thing is you can't have one happy ending and then in the others Shepard sacrifices himself. Otherwise they would become pointless and everyone just goes for the happy ending. I am not scared of saying I want a happy ending at all. I don't need one, all I need is a better ending. It just doesn't make sense to have multiple endings where Shepard dies and then have one where Shepard is reunited with his whole team again.

it's a Computer game the chance at a happy shep lives ending give the player somthing to aim for a reason to do all the fetch quests. as it stands it just dose not matter weather you do them or not.

im not afraid..i wanted a reasonable happy ending as one of many possible endings bad ones in cluded....a happy ending for me would be shepard living....possibly being asked to serve as the new human counciler once the mess is cleaned up (afterall no one else brought all those races together....shep makes a decent diplomat). maybe some donw the road updates on how the races are doing with the clean up.....possible blue children for fem shep and liara....meh...i have my ideal ending and my tragic one...neither are played out well with the current endings.

Hell, I'll go on record as saying yes, a happy ending option would've been great. After all, we were told we were going to have 17 endings, so why couldn't one of them be a happy ending? If you wanted your Shep to be with LI, so be it! If you didn't want a LI and just wanted to help rebuild Earth then it should've been there. And, there are lots of us who have played since Mass Effect and should be rewarded for our loyalty, instead we got screwed with an ambiguous ending and a note to buy more DLC.

I wanted the option to have a relatively happy ending. I also wanted an ending where the Reapers obviously won.

I'm not ashamed, I at least wanted the possibility of a 'happy' ending. I use quotation marks because I fully understand what has happened in game. Billions, if not trillions, of people have been either killed or harvested. Earth and Palaven are likely close to being completely inhospitable, we've seen the almost extinction of the Batarians before the game has even started. It wouldn't be a Disney happy ending. It would just be an ending that would actually inspire hope for the universe and characters within it. This could include Shep living on with their LI.

I'm not afraid to say it. There was PLENTY of bitter in ME3. Plenty of death. Thane, Legion/Tali, possibly the VS, Moradin, Maybe Wrex. Thessia's destruction, Earth being hammered, Palaven... so much death and bleakness in it all. The current ending is -all- bitter, there's nothing 'sweet' in it at all. The plot hole of the Normandy crashing where-the-hell-ever isn't sweet, it's just as stupid and depressing to go with everything else.
