Why are so many of you here scared to say that you wanted a happy ending?

Shepard wins and makes blue babies or reapers win and blue babies get impaled on dragons teeth.

And it wouldn't bother me so much if my Shepard, on Mars, basically says he's fighting first and foremost for Ash. He says this, they put it in the game. And then don't provide a single ending where Shepard doesn't lose her. 0 for 16.

What I truly wanted was a variety of outcomes based on what I did in game.
edit: bad grammar!

what i think is strange is that its not even an ending where the reapers whipes all out and a new cycle beginns.
BUT YOU DONT EVEN GET THAT.
if the ems was to low that should have been a possibility. same as a happy ending.

(Bittersweet area, x = All ME3 endings)
Don't know if that makes any sense to anyone but me.
I still understand that happiness is relative, but there are some issues that can be agreed on like survivability and such.

But apparently some people don't get enough (or too much) sh*t in their life or think everyone dies="victorious and uplifting" or "new beginning" or something like that.
From the other side, I admit, that there are movies, books and games that did bitter ending right and it fits the story. Mass Effect is not that story. I don't want to choose between good ending and ending that makes sense, I want both. From some replies on this thread I got the feeling that somehow they are mutually exclusive.

If they could have done better than ME2, the fans would be swooning and throwing their money at them.
Casey Hudson would be voted sexiest man of the year in People.

I have never been afraid to say the I wanted a happy ending. I wanted to walk off into the sunset with my LI as the flaming corpses of my enemies lit up the sky with sparklers!
I support the Bioware writers creative rights here, I don't ask them to change their ending. I'm just telling Bioware that I don't spend almost $100 in a preorder to be depressed. And I was depressed with this ending....not sad....depressed....feeling futile and helpless and a whole bunch of things I didn't want to feel.
Real Life is filled with enough of that stuff, I can get all those feelings just by living long enough. I wanted an honest to God Hollywood," I can't believe she did it but she did it ending!!!" Period.

It's not that we don't want a happy ending, it's that we're willing to accept a bittersweet or worse ending, as long as it makes sense and fits the lore.

Seriously, the whole gang should have a beach party to celebrate.
It's from 2 but I hope it helps:
I don't want all the endings to end in me feeling like I have done something out-of-this-world awesome but at least one should do.

I'm confused why they did not go with one ending where everybody unequivocally dies and the next cycle finds Liara's time capsule. That would have been a very interesting 'bad' ending.
Besides that, there needed to be seperate human-centric, neutral and paragon victories.
A happy ending, even if Shep does retired with their LI and has a beer on the beach (metaphorically speaking) is still bittersweet given how the whole game is filled with death and destruction.

Agreed, there's no reason a game like Mass Effect should be limited to one ending.NYG1991 wrote...
