And I bet my left nut they use the same clunky animations and the same crappy gunplay.
Rockstar games have never been known for their gun play. There's a reason for that.
Like what?
It's among the worst TPS combat I've played, personally. ME2 and ME3, even with base weapons, is so much better it's a joke. Rockstar doesn't even try in this regard.

I don't want a crime simulator, I want to be able to explore the world and do what I want without the cops busting my doors down, or driving mechanics slowing me down as I don't know how to handle the cars as I don't play racers. If the game had better controls it would not be a major issue, but they didn't.
It killed the franchise for me.

The cops were 10x more vicious in San Andreas. And I don't need silly gimmicks like Jet packs to enjoy a free roam game. I don't play racers either and I had no problem with the cars. Besides we already have one over the top insane open world game with Saints Row and their latest entry was so boring to me that it was a chore just finishing it.
over the top doesn't automatically = better.

Minus the story could have been better, as to Cops being harder in SA? I don't know what your playing, but on my arcade copy on my 360, I've jacked planes, shot people in the streets, even beat drug dealers down. Nothing.
In GTA:4....good god, I smash a Window. Opps Cops, I on mistake hit the toll booth, oh **** here comes a three star warning level, fallowed up with a chopper chase. Crap got out of hand fast in that game. I once even shot my gun off in the museum on mistake trying to answer my phone to shut roman the hell up, and that went from on little bullet hole, to fighting a swat team and the Army. I also hated the "sims" aspect to GTA:4.
And funny enough no in real life the police arn't that good. Most of the time they are so incompetent its not even funny. Look at botched trails left and right. I mean you can even see real video's where someone goes on a rampage with a tank, police response? Run like hell. Typical police response times are actully rather ****ty. I know they are for the most incompetent. I wo't go into detail on that.
So your right, the game isn't a crime simulator. Cops wish they were that good, had that much firepower, or that good of a response time. Well unless you live in a police state with the KGB which seems to me what Liberity city is if they have all the speed and numbers they do.

UMMMM arcade copy? Maybe cops were turned off? I mean SA had plenty of cheats that let you do that. But with them on you had the most insane drivers after you. I cannot tell you how often I got killed just because I had to ditch my ride. In a vehicle in SA you had a shot on foot you were dead period.
I didn't say that the cops were nicer in 4 but they sure as hell were easier to handle. You get out of a car and you can survive if you keep moving not in SA. Your right though I don't have a clue what game you were playing because the cops in 4 were easy as long as you didn't go over 4 stars.
Oh hell you could hold off in the hospital or a cluckin bell with 6 stars and be just fine. No such place in SA.
10 minute video... i've held up in the hospital for over 4 hours. It could've been longer but I was getting bored of it and made a run for it.
The truth of it neither one of them let you get away with it but the cops were funner in 4 because you could actually survive them.

As to the cops, its hard to escape them if your INSIDE a building in GTA4. Then again I tend to shoot them when they shoot at me, so stuff gets pushing really fast. I had trouble with them mainly as in Vice City Style I rather slaughter them and go to a safe house than run from them. Plus I didn't use the cover system in four very often. I preferd to keep moving than staying in one place.
So I'm not sure what game YOU are playing, but it wasn't what I played, as I had an easy time in SA with the cops. I found them to be jokes in most cases honestly. While on Four just the ****ty HP levels got the best of me unless I took all damn day clearing a room.
Maybe its in our play style. I'm more of a, go on a rampage across the city, versus staying in a hall way and letting them come one by one, sort. And thats funny I did several runs of 6 stars on SA and survived. In fact thats how I got many tanks. find a property I own, start crap up, use RPGs or sniper rounds to kill the guys inside tanks, drive them over into the bay. Go inside, rest or save, done.
In GTA 4 the cops would fallow me INTO my safe house. Maybe its just our play styles. But I honestly loathed GTA4.

You think I spend all my time in a hallway? I was using that video as an example.
I'm the type who likes chases. The most fun I have with any GTA is getting cops after me and running from them.
in SA it goes something like this get in car and drive like a bat out of hell lose car die rinse and repeat THTHTHTHT
IN 4 its get in car drive like a bat out of hell lose car run down ally find new car or keep moving. I don't think we're even on the same planet because in my universe there are no rampages in SA I can get away from the cops unless I'm in a damn tank. In 4 I start a rampage and can get away on a damn scooter!
Give me a damn break.

Well I don't give a flying ****. And its not my problem if your as bad at SA as I am at 4. Doesn't change the fact in my eyes and a number of previous fans, SA was better than 4.

I did not suck at SA I absolutely loved it and I'm talking about one aspect that I found more enjoyable in 4 than in it. Hell I think it was better in Vice City but thats just me. I think also Vice City's layout was real fun for those kind of chases I enjoy.
Your right it is different playstyles I would see how long i can survive just running from the police not trying to lose them just keep moving. Vice City and 4 allowed me to do it for longer for some reason.
Doesn't mean I suck at SA and it sure as **** doesn't mean I hated SA not by a bloody long shot.
I don't understand why you got all hostile all of a sudden I thought we were having a pretty good discussion.

Over all I liked Vice City the Most though.
4 however the cops arn't the problem, just so much felt borken in that game for me. And I really, really disliked the "sims" thing it had going on. I just could not get into the game, plus alot of the chase missions, Meh I suck at those. I mean I'll admit it the game style of four just wasn't for me. I liked RDR though, well minus that game was horrible at fighting in close, like say with cougers. Thats screwed up when a mountian cat can kill me, yet I can take out dozens of guys no problem.

And yeah VC hasn't aged well but it easily was the most fun. I just hope they bring back in 5 more of the fun, and less of the Sims.

Eh, Vice City was amazing for the time, but it hasn't aged well at all IMHO - and GTA III has aged even worse. I can't will myself to play either one anymore.

^^^ this seems like the case for all free roam Rockstar games for me.
I play GTA 3 to death until Vice City comes out.
I play Vice City to death until SA comes out.
I play 4 to death until I get my hands on RDR.
Still playing RDR to death (very close to 100% yay) and I probably will be done when 5 comes out.
My desire for previous titles just don't come back when I can play the newest one. I put in 4 a couple weeks ago and was just bored with it.
Whats funny is those chase are non existant in RDR so my fun with that is found elsewhere.

Thats my point though.
I felt that 4 had just as much fun.
And I don't know what you mean by Sims.
Are you talking about bowling with friends where you can totally not do them?

Oddly enough I could fly and use the boats very well in that game. But nothing with wheels on it, short of bigger stuff like trucks and tanks. It just felt more like work than fun to me. Also I was good with the combat, but chases? Nooo. I just felt like doing like the joker and going "GTA4 Why you so Serious?"
