Or you can realize organic life is flawed and Synthesis is a chance to be less so.

Well that's another discussion entirely.

Not having a trait makes you different just as much as having a trait.  Diversity and uniqueness are functionally identical, diversity works on a larger scale, uniqueness on a smaller one.  Getting rid of distinctions eliminates both

Not really.

If you could fly, and no one else could, you'd be unique. Someone who can't fly isn't unique, though. You can't be unique without being unique to something else. If everyone could fly, though, the uniqueness of flying is lost, though.

Diversity is different because there's more to it than merely your abilities. Humans basically all have the same abilities, but it varies based on the person at hand. Some folks run fast, others can't run worth a lick. They're not the same for merely being able to run.

So everyone having synthetic abilities doesn't kill diversity. It actually new variables to existing ones, likely creating more.

Ofcourse that is taken from the codex. I used to be an ITer. But IT is no longer relevant IMO. It is just some people living in denial.

So people who hate themselves support Synthesis or Control?

It's weird how the Destroy support threads identity seems to be "We're better than Synthesis and Control, we're the only right choice!"

Not just in that thread. It seems to be pretty much the attitude of most Destroy-ers here on BSN. Also, there are a handful of exceptions, but most of the time choosing Destroy seems to be fueled by anger. It's almost as if because they don't have an ending they like, nobody else is allowed to have one, and so they go to make other players' lives miserable.

I wonder what happened to "No ending is right or wrong, it's only right or wrong for specific types of players, or specific types of the Shepards we roleplay".

Well, I'm the type of player for whom Synthesis is right, based on the recognition that there is a point in cultural and technological evolution where you cannot advance any more without embracing the unknown and leaving aspects of what you have been before behind. It is not a change I would implement for everyone at any other time, but Shepard is standing at the fulcrum of events and he must make a choice.

@Jake Boone:
The recognition that the physical nature of organic life could use some improvement has nothing to do with hating ourselves. Romantic and traditionalist notions about the nature of life mask the plain fact that biology is a mess and leaves us all susceptible to effects we'd rather do without. I would rather ask why the hell people value biochemical purity at all. It beggars comprehension.

Or those select Synthesis/Control hate themselves. Just another stick to bash non-destroy choices with. Nothing new, life on BSN as usual.;)

. To use your example, the person who can't fly is still unique in different ways, that's the by product of sexual reproduction.  And since everyone has these synthetic upgrades, then uniqueness is gone, even Joker's disease is gone.  No uniqueness means that there is no genetic difference between individuals.  This means that biological diversity as a whole is gone

I think that the group might actually be useful then. Argue with Destroyers/ ITers here, discuss post-synthesis galaxy there where you can't be interrupted

We should be able to handle this, civil discussion is what this 'board is for. So far, it's been fine. No spammers, no one breaking rules. If we stomp out people for voicing different opinions, we're just becoming the IT thread.

Using the group as our safe-haven makes sense. The thread is open to the public though, just the way it is.

. To be clear, I'm a firm believer in no canon ending.  I just enjoy debating things, mostly for the sake of arguing.

What I think is all those clues and thematic similarities were intended to be for an IT ending which never happened because EA rushed them. So they are not coincidence but not IT either.
Also, the epilogues.

And I'm dead serious <_<

Not really. As I said, genetics vary by nature, depending on the individual. Or sometimes environment.

It's strange you'd cite Joker's disease because he's clearly still limp. For that matter, reproduction is not gone either (krogan babies born afterwards being proof).

.  In the video on Eden, he is clearly not limping at all.  And I never said reproduction would end, but I really wonder how it works, and as for the fate of genetic diversity, I think we have reached an impasse, there is no way to prove it one way or the other

So serious question. If Wreav is the Krogan leader and you pick synthesis does he still prepare for war?

There are no synthesis versions of "War Debate" and "War Rally"...
They are present in Control, though...
