Wouldn't it be great if Bioware did a 40k RPG where you play as an Inquisitor?

Rare, difficult and unlikely..Even moreso for an Ultramarine.

But NOT impossible.

You got better candidates for love stories then Space Marines, but it is possible.
I'd say that it would usually require an atypical marine and unusual circumstances.

Its a fictional universe so real world parrallels aren't relevent.

They are always relevant.

Please...don't ruin my Space MureensImage IPB. They can't have sex, it makes no sense and why would you even be morbidly curious enough to think about that.

Ruin them? Meh.
Why wouldn't it make sense? They are still human at their core and they never were sterilized.

Yes they are. Space Marines are sterile.

Find me a quote where it sez that. I dare you.

In all the time I spent on the Liber Astertes and Amicus Ades, in all the discussion about marines and sex, I have yet to come upon a single quote that confirmes that they are sterile.

When I talk about sterile, I talk about the fact that a space marine can't reproduce. They can't have children. That in combination with their low (near absent) sex-drive, makes the concept of a space marine falling in love very very very VERY unlikely. And even if a space marine would fall in love, he wouldn't have the urge to have sex. And if he does have that urge, he won't be able to reproduce.

The space marine's gene-seeds are the only way of reproduction for a space marine. When a space marine dies, they harvest their gene-seeds so they can produce new space marines. However, any space marine that is created from your gene-seeds, will not be your son, but the son of your Primarch. Thus, space marines can never have children.

Here are several quotes on this subject:

"Thus, for most Astartes, their Progenoid Glands represent the only form of reproduction they will ever know, though the DNA passed on will be that of their Primarch, not their own."

"Just like normal human germ cells, exposure to high concentrations of ionizing radiation can effectively render a Space Marine "sterile" by destroying the germ cells within his Progenoids."

Wouldn't that be a bit boring as an RPG?

I think shooters are a better type of game for representing them.

You do relaise that the quotes dont' support your theory, but mine... :?:? ... right?

A space marine cannot have sex and create a new space marine (since the DNA passed would be more or less their own, not the gene-seed that makes a SM a SM). Space Marines are made, not born - teh changes are made to normal humans to tun them into demi-gods of death.
Also note that the quote sez MOST ASTARTES...so obviously some get to know other forms of reproduction.

Also, progenoid cells being destroyed by excessive radioation means dead chapter. And it obviously doesn't happen often, given the marines own resillience to radioation and power armor and stuff.

Well, lets put it this way: Have you EVER heard of a Space Marine that reproduced by having sex? In fact, have you EVER heard of a space marine having the lust of sex at all? All the Space Marine indivisuals I know, and I mean ALL of them, seems to be pretty asexual. They don't care for love or sex. Also, think about it, a huge Space Marine having sex with a normal human women? That doesn't seem possible. I think the woman would die if they even tried.

Space mariens aren't THAT large (and it's questionable if their member is also enlarged in the process. For all we know, they might have tiny peckers)

And I never heard about a LOT of things that are sure to happen/are presumed to happen.

Absence of evidence is NOT evidence of absence.
