I'm going to do another play through of DA2, I think I'll play as a rogue this time, and was just wondering if dual wield or archery is better, or more effective?
Any rogue players got any thoughts or advice???

I love playing rogues and for myself I always go dual-wield. However, archery can be very effective too. Archer builds are quite viable in DA2, and rogue Hawkes get some skill trees like Specialist for example which IMO can be useful for melee or ranged combat.
The specializations available to rogue Hawke seem IMHO to work a bit better for dual-wield but that is certainly not the final word, especially since you don't need to use them if you don't want to. In the end, I suppose it helps to just consider what sort of style do you like to play the most (distance, or up close)? I think you can have fun and be very successful doing either, or both!

I think dual-wielding is awesome. I'm currently doing a bowman though. Yeah both are great.

Well it depends on who is in your party. My easiest nightmare run was with a DW Shadow Assassin. I took Aveline (Staggers, Fenris clocks my rogues too often), Varric (Fatiguing Fog set, Marksman, Stealth, Speed, Blindside then the Archer's Lance set) or Merrill (Primal, Keeper, Entropy, Spirit Bomb set, any left get Winters Blast + Winter's Grasp, Fireball), and Anders ( Creation, Elemental, Vengence, Rock Armor, Chain Lightning set).
The key talents in the DW tree are Lacerate + Main (get by 8th level), Twin Fang+ Reverse Grip (get by 10th level). You have to take Backstab, Unforgiving Chain, and Explosive Strike to get them. That's seven talents. Grab Stealth, Speed, and Blindside early. Thats ten.
In Shadow i took: Pinpoint Precision, Disorienting Criticals (these first two by tenth level), Inconspicuous, Decoy, and Shadow Veil. In Assassin i took: Mark of Death, Bloodlust, Pinpoint Strikes, Assassinate + Annihilate + Overkill, Devious Harm. That's twenty-two talents and the core of your build. You can have them all by 19th level, or 18th if your evil. Then get Merciless Strike (Explosive Strike upgrade), Back to Back + Invisible Friend (for 3 stealth talents), and Brand.
That's twenty-six (22nd to 23rd level). Then if you have any left you can grab Predator. Or upgrade Mark of Death, or your Decoy. Or you could even try for the Speed set. I would keep a good bow, you never know when it could come in handy.

Dual Wielding = Quicker attack speed, lower damage not including critical hits.
Archery = Slower attack speed, higher damage but I think lower critical hit rate.
Honestly after recently making an Archery rogue myself in DA2 after playing a duel wielding one a year or so ago, I think I have enjoyed playing the archer more.
Also don't assume that it's like DAO when enemies got into melee range. The archer pulls out a dagger and starts attacking that way too when they get up close outside of you using your bow skills.
