Basically, does anyone know the mechanics as applied to ingame enemies?
Is it worth getting 100 Physical Resist & 100 mental resist on the higher diff levels, or does each diff level give the enemies a large enough bonus to counteract it?
In my playthroughs, the main reason you would want a resist is the Ogre Grab, the Drake Overwhelm (nasty... two on Al once... the heal spell didn't even have time to fire), the Dragon Chomp (proper name?), and the rogue stuns (dirty fight, riposte, scattershot, pinning, etc).
Does anyone know the math to determine if the above are even resistable on Hard & NM?

if you have a mage in a party force field can cancel all those. well if you want to see the difference between 100 physical/mental resistance you should try using an AW and get shimmering shield.

Toolset time? Can some kind soul point me in the right direction to find out what value the game assigns, for example, the spiders in Ortan Taig who use overwhelm?
The formula I've seen suggested on the forums (Attacking Attribute Modifier [like str-10] - defender resist value= sucess (positive value) or fail (negative value)) seems deterministic, but I'm still seeing some "resist!" and some actual overwhelms.
