Miranda in ME3

The developers didn't want too many ME 2 characters to be in the squad because they didn't want people screwed up the suicide mission to miss out.
The only reason why Tali and Garrus made it, is so they could have squadmates that have been at Shepard's side throughout the entire trilogy.

So they decided to sideline Miranda because of fanservice to Talimancers and Garrusmancers.
Here are the problems I have with that:
1. Miranda has a much more important role in the story than Tali or Garrus
2. They could have easily swapped Vega's place with Miranda's
3. Adding one more squadmate would do little to impact the amount of content that each squadmate recieves, considering I already found the content from ME3's squad to be less interesting than the way it was handled in ME1 and 2.
4. Tali and Garrus can die on the Suicide Mission as well
5. Miranda is extremely hard to kill on the Suicide Mission for a reason

Saren was on the cover of ME1 and was very important. His appearnece was astonishing in ME3. In fact, he didn't appear at all!
Saren dies in ME 1 end of story. I think mentioning him was enough.

I still don't understand why Bioware decided to simplify her role into "LOL ORIANA" the entire game. She was a gold mine for Cerberus information... and not once was her character used to give Shepard any insight or advice.
This is why I think she still could show up as a squadmate...it makes no sense that she is absent in the first place. Besides, since Bioware knows she is the most sought after squaddie, why not hold her back for extra $$ in the future?
She would definitely be an excellent candidate for future DLC. I can see some sort of revenge or espionage plot going on.
After the events of ME2 and her role, I think a lot of people naturally assumed that she would play an important role and were surprised to find she was rendered moot. On the other hand, she did get better treatment than many of the other less fortunate ME2 squadmates.

I agree Garrus and Tali are mostly fan service, especially Tali, her presence in ME 3 as a squadmate was debatable, but they decided, that Garrus and Tali would be the ones who were with Shepard from the beginning.
Vega is writere's baby they wouldn't allow that.

Oh grow up. EDI's AI core and Legion took the place Liara used to be and Gardner took Kaidans spot, it's not a punch in the face, so stop looknig for idiotic reasons to hate on Liara.MASSEFFECTfanforlife101 wrote...
I missed her being on the Normandy. It was pretty much a slap- no, a PUNCH in the face to me and other Mirimancers/Mirimaniacs when BioWare decided to give Miri's room to Liara.

Mupp, I don't think she really could be a
good DLC candidate. If I recall correctly, her storyline is one of the
last before we head back to earth. Since we all know how that turned
out, the DLC would have to come between the two and that wouldn't leave
much time for some good mission to pop up. You'd need some space magic
or something.
Perhaps. But we have a lot of space magic abound! Lulz.
But, in all seriousness, I hope the SP DLC campaign involves ME2 character squadmates. I miss a lot of them, dearly. Perhaps Jack would be a good candidate? I'm not sure what the plot would be.. but I was surprised by her lack of importance, as well.
Especially consider how much her character developed and the fact that they went to the lengths of redesigning her to reflect her "new" self.

But Miranda can die too, so mentioning her should be enough.
Ok seriously, the only reason they didn't pick her was:
1) Kaidan got sentinel covered
2) People already whine about too many humans, despite their being only 2/7.
3) She can die like the 12 other members (Yes, Tali and Garrus got a free pass but they're the most popular)
4) A former cerberus member working in an Alliance ship? LOL
5) Ash stole her looks and having 2 high heel wearing "sexy" human women in catsuit would be way too many.
6) Bioware couldn't be arsed and laziness kicks in.

Unlike you, I hold little sentimental value for ME1 Characters, because I started ME2 first. You have no to insult. I wasn't insulting Liara at all. I just think that it's a strange coincidence that BioWare would pick Miranda's room and not other rooms.

They did the same for Legion/EDI's AI core which replaced Liara's old room, so no it's not strange at all. Mirandas room is big and a private room, something Liara needs for her equipment.MASSEFFECTfanforlife101 wrote...

You could say the same for Jack's area. Or that room where the crew members slept, with that guy who talked about his daughter. We had a skeleton crew anyway.

No. Most people agree that her role in ME3 was rather lackluster.
And Tali became a squadmate so late in the game that there really was no point in her becoming one anyway. Don't even get me started on Garrus. Though I don't mind Garrus's uselessness as much since I like him...

should they left that room as memorial ? with pictures and candles and all ? and that was the shepards room in first part, so who cares.
besides, he maked a good point about first game characters who werent there in me 2 because of new characters. biowares fault ? like everything i guess.

Really? That must explain why she has the biggest role out of all the ME2 characters and isn't dancing on a pole at Omega for your amusement.

to be fair though, EDI and Ashley aren't really any better anymore with their "needed to be sexy" (as said in the artbook) redesigns.

Tali
Garrus
Liara
Vega, EDI and Virmire Survivor's crew status made sense, so it wasn't a matter of favourites there. Just 'the right place at the right time.'
