Saying, "But Miranda got a whole TWO MORE CUTSCENES than Jack/Thane/Jacob etc" is pretty lame broskis.

I'm not saying the outfit complaints were universal, just very focal and widespread. As for unimportant cosmetic issues, sometimes the cosmetic issues as you put it can be distracting and at times jarring. It does harm the quality and perception of the package. Example, friend of mine was watching me play ME2 and I had Miranda in my squad. He asks, "why is she wearing a catsuit into battle? That's f****** retarded." I couldn't argue the point because he is right. Those azz shots, a female friend of mine, like me, found it tasteless, but for her it was also insulting. Things like that do matter, and making the same careless mistakes twice just shows how lazy and apathetic Bioware got.

I understand that Miranda fans will be dissapointed. But has anybody considered the amount of characters there are in the ME universe? Not all of them could have gotten the full attention of the writers, so it was up to a select few favourites:
Tali
Garrus
Liara
Vega, EDI and Virmire Survivor's crew status made sense, so it wasn't a matter of favourites there. Just 'the right place at the right time.'
But NONE of the ME2 team got any extra fan service. I think that's the general bone of contention.
Personally, I wanted Jack to have a huge role in the game as she's my favorite character. But, objectively, I was absolutely shocked when Miranda wasn't in my squad or on the Normandy for the entire time. Especially considering Cerberus' role in the game. She's pivitol to that storyline and her absence is probably the biggest missed opportunity regarding the ME2 team.
We've all got our ME2 favorites, but I think the lack of Miranda is the biggest oversight. Especially, as already stated, becuase she was damn near impossible to kill in ME2.

lack of "resources" (time, money to record, time to record her dialogue) and generally poor writing. It's especially disturbing that her character is such a non-factor while Cerberus is elevated to near God-mode status and she makes no comment on it.
Other issues with Miranda: no banter/dialogue/argument between Ashley and Miranda if you bring Ashley to Sanctuary, not having Miranda at Cronos Station, and no mention of Miranda's idealistic view of a possible Human STG to juxtapose with the current Cerberus iteration.....
Regardless of resources, not having Miranda at Cronos is one of the glaring writing/story omissions. The first scene of ME-2 starts with a picture of the sun and a conversation between her and TiM in that room. To not come full circle with that moment available is really lame. And it's exacerbated by TiM's appearance in the ending. The Cerberus angle should have been completed with both Kai Leng and TiM kicking the bucket at Cronos.
This is true. She really was a wasted character, considering the fact that it was next to impossible to kill her in the previous game (and she was the lynchpin of the Project Lazarus storyline, which inexplicably gets brought up again in this game).
BW could have solved this whole problem by making her recruitable at the Citadel after you leave Mars. She wouldn't be plot-essential (and if you didn't talk to her, she would appear much like the finished game - a conversation in her room, the holovid appearance). However, if you did recruit her, she'll reveal more about Cerberus' dealings as you go through the next few missions, before leaving to investigate Sanctuary. Then, if she survived the Sanctuary mission, you would have the option of bringing either her or EDI to Cronos Station - EDI because she can break the updated codes, and Miranda because she knows how to hack the system and get her comeuppance on TIM.
It's not like this would be unfeasible to do. After all, half the ME2 squad has dialogue in the final mission that was cut before release (and it on-disc). Less story-important squadmates (Garrus, I'm looking at you) had several conversations in 3 if they survived.
That would have been way better than "lol Oriana!"

The only other reason I can imagine why Miranda isn't closer to the Cerberus story arch is because Yvonne Strahovski was doing something else at the time (finishing Chuck? Killer Elite? That Seth Rogen movie? Auditioning/Filming I, Frankenstein? Posing for Sobe? Doing a parody of Katy Perry and Kesha?). And I can imagine replacing her VA wouldn't go over well (Mordin's voice change was noticeable and slightly jarring) esepcially since the FACE wouldn't change at all.
I almost feel like the personfication of EDI was meant to supplement for the lack of Miranda...I mean, did they plan it? Or was EDI a totally organic idea?

I think instead of arguing with each other about which ME2 character got sidelined the most, we should just **** in a unified voice that they all got sidelined.
Saying, "But Miranda got a whole TWO MORE CUTSCENES than Jack/Thane/Jacob etc" is pretty lame broskis.
Kookie can I just Good Job, I second this. Because they all got sidelined, Miranda, Samara, Thane, Jack, Jacob, all were throw out the widow.
Of course being the Samara fan I am, I've got this empty feeling because BW said many times that Samara would have romance/LI continuation and development in ME3, many times it was said, and as thing seemed to go with BW the more they said it the bigger the made it out to be, and just how BIG and REWARDING it would be for fans (of Samara).
Despite the fact I didn't like Miranda's personality, I did enjoy her character and she had so much potential in ME3, the deal with her dad and his legacy to say it was underwhelming or a fail would be to kind. It was like ummmm... yeah that.... what all this build up and then umm really? Hell even what Henry was working on for Cerberus had so much more potential and it was again like ummmm ...........really that's it................. ummm ummmm...
I ummm....... what was that bit about Herny Lawson, discovering how Indoctration works and making it work for Cerberus, ummmm I not sure how did TIM get his goons all husked like again? umm... hey whatever happened to the Miranda and Orianna's moster dad who created them as his legacy dynasty? Where was that at again..... um hmmm.
That's what it was like with the stuff Miranda's character brought to the story.
As for what Miranda's character was like in ME3, umm hmmm this the same Miranda from ME2? It's like she's lost half her character, the tough, cool, smart, lady, the lady that spent 2 years rebuilding Shepard, the lady that was a Cerberus Loyalist, the layy that was never cought off gaurd and seemed so self-assured confident and a bit cocky, that Miranda the Cerberus Cheerleader, or in ME3 should have been the ex-Cerberus Cheerleader, the lady that in ME2 rubbed me the wrong way, but in ME3 she was just hmmmm come on Miranda start rubbing me the wrong way? That's not the same Miranda she wasn't coming off as the same person anymore, she was less then half there.
At least Jack was still the same person and was intact, Thane, Jacob (As LI), Miranda, were all not there, and Samara don't get me started on the many ways she wasn't there and then she was, and that empty pit I got from the lies BW told me and my Fellow Samaritans.
It's time we start being more understanding of other fanbases and their hurt and pain from ME3, it's time we stop this petty well they got more time, or she's not even a LI get over it, Because we all have justifialbe issues, and BW needs to set to work and make good on what we were promissed.
Miranda, Samara, Thane, Jack, Jacob, Kelly, all were tossed aside in ME3 not to mention Zaeed and Kasumi got most their content in the leaks cut out, same with Kelly who got the biggest cut of anyone from the leaks.
All of us were promissed something and we didn't get it, all of us got shafted it's time to stop these petty fan base things and start joining together and helping each other.

So this question may have been somewhat buried under the furore over the ending, but I thought that sidelining Miranda was astonishing. She was a principle character in ME2, she was one of the more famous voice actors, she was on the cover of ME2, she's even still on the forum background. Not to mention, she was also an awesome squadmate.
Why the sideline? I'd like to have been able to choose between her and Ashley (or Kaiden) as a squadmember because Ashley is dull!
I agree, I wish I could replace either Tali or Allers with her. I loved Miranda in ME2 because she had the confidence and the charisma enough to contradict Shepard when she thought Shep was doing things in the wrong way.
