Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any insights on good builds for mages, I normally have just randomly picked spells and talents usually specializing in spirit healer and something else so I can heal my party in battle if I don't have another mage specialized in that field. Are there any websites that list builds etc...Thanks for any info.

Here's a thread where some people list their builds: http://social.biowar...6/index/68522/1
Spirit healer + blood mage / arcane warrior is the usual combination. Shapeshifting requires modding to be effective.
Most people get the basic heal spell, at least one crowd control option, one weapon buff, and the crushing prison chain, because all spells in it have their uses and CP itself does a ridiculous amount of single-target damage.
In addition to that I personally favor the storm AoE spells, bottlenecking doorways with them is grand fun :>

Thanks for the info I'll take a look. I just started playing again after a long hiatus from Dragon Age so wanted to actually try to play with some strategy this time rather than randomly picking things.

The only mage Warden I've played all the way through with is my Blood Mage-Spirit Healer, who represents a pretty good combination of healing and blowing things up. (On purpose, since I named him after a god who represents creation and destruction for the same pantheon.) Blood Wound, useful, Blood Control, takes one opponent out of the fight for a bit. Group Heal, pretty much necessary at times. Revival... you shouldn't need this, but sometimes I do.
My Blood-Healer doesn't know any storm spells, but some of the playthroughs after that I looked up Storm of The Century. If you're planning on using two mages in one party, you should look that up and get it to work.

try running three mages sometime. Use Wynne as your primary healer, flip Morrigan to Debilitator and load her up on entropy spells and set yourself up as damager. I tried running this with Lelianna for lock picking but that didnt turn out so well so I stuck Sten in there to attract the baddies then blew everything up.

Since i went Entropy in DA2 i wanted to do so in DA:O also first thing i noticed was that the last line of spells were bugged? Also when i use Entropy spells my game crashes more often, almost always when i use the entropy AOE spells 2 or 3 times.
Later i tried 'mass paralyze' + Virulent living bomb = carnage. But i can't say i found the right setup yet and my next pt will be rogue anyways.
