I'm not crazy about a movie, but Whedon would be the right choice. He does a good job with a large cast of characters, which a Mass Effect movie will obviously have.Vash690x wrote...
This. He does really good work with both action and story, IMO.darthnick427 wrote...

What Directior do you want in the unlikely eventuality that they actually make the Mass Effect movie?
I say:
Joss Whedon
He's good with characters-driven stories, and, well... he made Firefly
Agreed. Joss Whedon.

How about nobody from Hollywood? We dont need Hollywood ruining the ME franchise anymore than it already has been. Get this film made in Canada or France or some place like that. All Hollywood is capable of are big explosions and crappy CGI effects. I actually want a good film that has some integrity.

What about Paul Greengrass? I'd like to see him tackle a science fiction film, and he's quite adept at handling both action and drama in a cohesive fashion. Mass Effect might be just the ticket.

The only way to stay true to the games would be to have a brand new "twist" character introduced in the last minute and end the story arbitrarily... not good.
...But in THAT case: M.Night Shamylan.

Or perhaps the vast toffee himself (Stephen Moffett). Then it'll take twice as long to work out what the ending means.
I still think a Powell and Pressburger style would be the best. Shame their approach isn't in vogue these days.

Of all the choices, I think I'd be interested to see Sam Raimi try it. Failing that either Scott or Whedon. I'm not keen on Spielberg these days, he's lost his touch and would no doubt cost way too much.
Hmm another option may be Neill Blomkamp. Hard to judge him just on District 9, but he clearly has a lot of potential and brings something a bit different to the table. May not be quite the right film for his style, but I wouldn't begrudge him the opportunity to prove he can do it.

Oh, I don't know about that. Didn't he say he already had ideas for Prometheus II and a Bladerunner sequel?vortex2000 wrote...
Another vote for Ridley, but I can't see him doing another science fiction film for quite a while yet (following "Prometheus").

I can see the quotes now...
"You are tearing me apart, Liara!"
"Oh hi, Garrus"
Shepard: "You know I can't talk Garrus, it's confidential, anyway how's your sex life?"
Garrus: "Can it wait a bit, I'm in the middle of having sex with Liara five times during this movie while repeatedly asking what she is doing"
EDI: "I got the test results back, I definitley have the blue screen of death"
But in all seriousness, I would love to see either JJ Abrams or James Cameron do it.
