Maker, NO!

It would be murderrrr!

I agree though. Or, tba, I don't really care unless it takes resources away from the single player game (not sure it would) or is somehow mandatory or affect said SP game in any way (and I mean any way). Otherwise, if people want to MP, why not?

Have not played MP ever, always SP games.

But I can relate to what Sutekh wrote. If it does not take away resources in any way and a lot of people want it
yeah, why not? Does not mean you have to play it. Think I will not though........................probably......

I'm wary of them just taking what ME3 did, changing "reaper war" for "exalted march," changing the factions to be realm-appropriate and calling it a day. If only so we don't have to endure even more "oh gnoes Mass Effectizing Dragon Effect why Bioware why?"

If it's "BG-style" multiplayer, which they've indicated is the only multiplayer they're considering, sure.

On a serious note, here's the problem with DA MP:

Hey Warden:

4 people chime in:  What?

Or:

Hey Hawke?

4 people chime in:  What?

In BG, every protaganist was a godchild, but, they could have their own names, etc etc etc.  Not so in DA.  A better system would be NWN's.

Part of me kinda likes the idea of chopping up monsters and bad guys with my friends whilst swearing loudly at how sh!t I am at it. However, adding multiplayer to DA3 might take away resources or whatever from the single player campaign.

Oh yeah, please do another ME3.

Add multiplayer that FORCES players to play so that they can make more money selling us Squire Pack, Knight Pack, Warden Pack and Champion Pack.

Divert resources to making MP so we can have even more recycle environments, puppy like "fetch" sidequest.

Besides, Dragon Age multiplayer!?!?! Seriously??? Noy only will the storyline goes to hell, with the current "A = Awesome", does anyone seriously find button mashing together with a friend FUN!?!

If Bioware wants to do MP, create a new franchise instead of mutating current franchise.
If you want MP, go play Diablo III - it is at least "entertaining"

ME MP works because ME is a shooter-RPG. You would have to make DA MP more like an MMO with turn-based combat and slow pacing.

Are you sure about that? Seems like there are a number of examples of online mp games without that type of combat. (Torchlight2, Diablo3, Tera I think...)

Those are just hack & slash games, and as I said I have no interest in DA becoming even more of a hack & slash than DA2 was.

Co-op SP couldn't work. DA is about making decisions. How would multiple players make story-altering choices.

If it's done like in BG, I'm definitely game. I've been wanting to join my friends' single player campaigns for ages now. When I join a game, I can either have my own character join their world and scale to their level, taking up a party slot with my silent NPC. Or, I could assume direct control over one of their companions.

I'd love if this wasn't an either/or kind of thing, but rather simply two options. Some people will prefer to create their own characters, while I dislike the idea of removing banter and the like from my friend by putting a silent character in their party and thus prefer to play a companion, etc.

Nah, only the character in the first slot was Gorion's ward. The others were... random story-ridden mercenaries that lived in Candlekeep or happened to be in Candlekeep as the game began =) Only the real main character would get bhaalspawn powers, have dreams in BG2 etc.

After finishing DA2 you don't think it would have been fun to start an elf/dwarf/qunari warrior/rogue/mage and start running through NEW caves/back alleys for a while?

Or... you know, they could just include multiple races and class options in the SP experience, like Origins did.

ME3 is a shooter, so having a MP addition makes sense. The DA games should have a rich, deep and baked SP campaign, that can have a huge variety of choices, options and origins. I got more replay value out of DA:O than I did out of any multiplayer game since Diablo 2.

DA2 was modeled like ME2: From the dialogue wheel to e-mails to the Normandy... erm... Hawke Estate. DA3 will no doubt follow ME3. It has nothing to do with innovation and everything to do with marketing. Of course marketing will make sure that it will be presented as a game combining the best of DAO and DA2. The best of DA2 most likely mean follow ME3. As we can see with ME3 MP means that MP will get the attention and the DLCs. I am not even sure that we will get a proper story driven ME3 SP DLC. Maybe one. So, I am not a fan of MP for DA3. It will damage the SP experience once more.

I could stand for da mp only as a separate stand alone game, possibly woth a freemium model. NOT connected to DA3 though.

The way I see it, you control the choices (well, as much you can resist your friend's pleas to take their prefurred choice), while your friend controls one of your followers during combat.
They could all so add a voting system for choices.

I would prefer co-op to have a offline option.

Co-op campaign seems like it would require a lot of resources to not suck. And would still likely end up only being played by like 5 people.

My point being, that in NWN's you could make a character that started out as a nobody, and rose to power, or not, accordingly, and you could party with your friends on servers that were made by others.  Running the campaigns with a group was dull to the extreme, in that I only played the campaigns to unlock them but online play was a blast, when the only story was the one you made.

Protagonist gameplay does not suit multiplayer. Bit like in BG where someone would be the spawn and everyone else would follow them about. Take out the NPCs and you remove a lot of the game.

There are ways to have multiplayer without negative impact. White Knight Chronicle (just ignore the created character in the story roster) Last Story etc.

Co-op campaign though. DA is not suited to it because of the gameplay system.

I wouldn't play it (I don't think it'd work for Dragon Age, it certainly didn't for Mass Effect), but if they decide to put it in there PLEASE don't make it mandatory for the "good" ending like in Mass Effect 3! Multiplayer shouln't have any influence over single player whatsoever.

The only way I could accept MP in DA, is if they release the toolset to players, so they can make their own mods, and let these mods be MP. This is what they did with Neverwinter Nights, and it worked great.

But I am totally opposed to Bioware to committing resources to creating a MP version as an official part of the DA world, as it would totally screw the solo campaign canon, as well as take resources away from making DA3 and future installments to the best of their ability.

Not every game can offer everything to every person. There are other MP options out there. Go enjoy those, and let Bioware concentrate on making DA3 to be the next DAO or BG2.

EA want all their games to be MP. It's very likely there will be MP of some kind in DA3 for that reason.
