Oh and a small thing OP; Garrus was Archangel on Omega not Purgatory. Purgatory is the prison ship Jack was on and is also the name of the club in ME3.

I assume her intent was to impregnate herself at the end of ME3,not during ME1. We understand that mind melding can create Asari children. Her intent is what changed. Your assumption may be wrong. Physical encounters are not needed to reproduce with Asari.

And how exactly do you know that her intent in ME3 was to produce a child?? Many people act like mind melding is always about sex, when ME1 has shown us that it is not.

Well I romanced Liara so I didn't really think anything of it. I mean why wouldn't my Shepard's last thought be of her? But now having heard that its always Liara for everyone I agree that's kind of lame. Everyone should get to see their romances

I thought it was really lazy on the part of Bioware. I like Liara and I've romanced her, but to have everyone have her as a last thought and to ignore every other LI was just ridiculous.

Everyone should see their LIs, but even an unromanced Liara makes more sense than Joker or Anderson....a picture of the whole crew + a picture of your LI (or the Normandy if Shep is single) would be ideal, IMO

 Okay, I think I may have come up with an answer to the OP's question.  Shepard's last thought was of Liara because Liara forced him to think of her.

I would be thinking more of Legion.

Not just because I liked him a lot, but because it is kinda the same situation.

Sacrificing yourself to save an entire race. (Or in Shepard's case, the universe)

I really don't see why every squadmember couldn't be seen. Every single one had an impact (Even Jacob! Sort of...meh whatever)

Not just shots of them looking at you, but key moments. As Shepard employs his/her choice, you see flashbacks of Thane saying a prayer, Legion sacrificing himself, Mordin singing, Wrex greeting you on Tuchanka, Tali hugging you, Garrus standing beside you on the presidium.

Depending on how your playthrough went, these moments would affect you differently. If Miranda died in ME2, or Kaidan in ME1, and you see a flashback of them as Shepard concludes his/her story? That at least would make the current endings SLIGHTLY more different to one another.

Three flashbacks, one of them potentially nonsensical, isn't acceptable to me

I can't find the post, but I know for a fact I read a Bioware post stating that Liara being the default sequence (if you didn't romance the VS) is a bug. Someone else may be able to find it, since I'm having difficulty apparently.

Exepct there isn't even video files for the other Love interests for said scene. It is not a bug where they are not apearing, it is just blatently not in the game.

Last I checked, it's quite possible for missing assets (i.e. other videos) to still be considered a "bug." Like I said, I can't find the thread since my search terms aren't picking up anything related to it, but I did read it.

Obviously the entire ending feels rushed, but there may have been some assets that were intended to be in that missed getting placed in the final build due to said rush.

What kind of f'ck-up would believe this kind of crap? What she did was just share lovely memories of her past with Shepard, as an act of friendship. Think of it as sharing an old photo-album with a friend and telling it's history and whatnot.

Not like, trying to sneak a pill into their glass and violate them while they're completely oblivious to it.

It's not a bug. There's are no other sequences in the game's data files.

Canon LI is clearly Liara which is ok as a Liara is pretty cool and one of the most powerful squad mates in both ME1 and 3. This isn't first disconect between player thoughts and Sheps thoughts in the game I as a player didn't care at all about ventboy but my shepard sure did he must of also secretly had a thing for blue skinned aliens as well poor Tali.

No, you can't. If you're on the PC, you can 'fix' it by entirely replacing the Liara cutscene .bik file with ones fans themselves have made.

There just aren't flashbacks of the ME2/3 LI's. At all. Anywhere. They don't exist.

Assets not in final build =/= bug.
Assets not in final build = Incomplete product.

While fortunately some people have made mods for the game to add in other LI's, I'm stuck on the console version and can't add in my wonderful LI of Tali.

*sigh* Luckily other things take priority.

Pretty much this.  Even if they were actually surprised by how negatively people reacted to the ending, there is no way they didn't foresee people wondering why they saw Liara.  Combine that with how the only real difference in the endings is a color swap, and it's obvious that the ending was very rushed and they thought we'd just accept it. 



And it's also an extremely sad commentary that the last thing we see at the end of a such a great series is an advertisement.  Was the main menu not enough?  At least that makes some sense and doesn't completely throw off any sort of emotional reaction that Bioware was trying to create.

It's not a bug. There's are no other sequences in the game's data files.

Bingo.  I've looked through the files.  As a matter of fact, I've installed a mod to the ending sequence to address this exact issue.  It's not a bug, the devs just didn't put anything other than the VS and Liara in there.
