Then you should play Shadow of the Colossus. Keep in mind that a videogame needs gameplay, needs the player to interact with its world, its universe. MGS4 doesn't follow videogame rules, it's basically a movie with few gameplay. That's art? Yeah, it could be art... as a movie. IIRC Kojima wanted to be a movie directorG Kevin wrote...

Even though I agree that MSG4's ending is better than ME3's one, MSG4 is not a videogame, is a movie. Cutscenes are ok if they are done and used properly, but one hour cutscene? The plot should be narrated alongside gameplay, not by cutting the whole videogame in tiny bits like this one. You play 20 minutes, then watch a 25 minutes cutscene, then play 30 minutes, then more 15 minutes of cutscenes... c'mon!
Personally, if I wanted video games to lean to an art form, I would prefer it to go towards MGS4's style.

it's not really, it's more of a euphoria if you've been playing the series since the beginning. a perfect ending for Snake.M25105 wrote...
From what I've been reading, in this thread so far, it doesn't even sound like a video game.

You could argue that MGS4 is more close to art since requires minimal interaction of the player.
You just put things in motion and see it happen in a cutscene.

Couldn't disagree more (though not about Shadow, that is a great game). The Metal Gear series and MGS4 can't simply be boiled down to 'interactive movie', they're gameplay is a large part of what people like about them and MGS was a leader in the stealth genre in its day. Saying otherwise is just pretending that doesn't exist.

Please, don't even compare.
MGS is like The Godfather while Mass Effect has been reduced to Micheal Bay's Transformers

Well, that's simply my opinion. I played MGS (actually I had two copies signed by Kojima, shows how much I love this series

I take that back. It's painful for me to even think about the MGS4 ending.

And at least Kojima knows when to rein in his own artistic vision for the sake of an ending worthy to the series.

I really enjoyed MSG4 and I love stealth games and still.. 1 hour cutscene is too much even for a Metal Gear game. Actually I nearly missed a flight because of that ending xDDD
Don't ge me wrong. I'm all for differing opinions, but what you've just written sounds more like 'too much story, not enogh gameplay' rather than the way you characterised it in your previous post which (seemingly) almost completely devalued the quality of the gameplay and ignored what Metal Gear accomplished in those areas. I maybe agree that 1 hour is a bit long, but I didn't really complain myself at the time since I still enjoyed it. I like that Kojim indulges here and there (though I'm not going to argue that he be allowed to do everything he wants unrestrained).
Also, I couldn't help but lol at the missed flight bit.

The writing is outright horrible and makes about as much sense as ME 3 but as a bonus you get the constant repetition of sentences like "Nanomachines" -"Nanomachines?" -"Nanomachines!" .
