Had this crazy idea, wanted to toss it out to the community to see how folks feel about it.
Let's say I want to thank Amethyst Dragon for creating the colored spell and feat icons that I use in my game. (This is true.)
I could send AD a private message saying "hey, I'm a potentially insane stranger on the Internet, why don't you make an anonymous Amazon.com Wish List and put a bunch of reasonably-priced stuff on it, so I can buy you a gift, and you can feel properly appreciated for all your hard work, while completely maintaining your privacy and my privacy and not giving my credit card info to anyone but Amazon."
But rather than do this, if I'm not the only one who wants to send anonymous thanks to folks, how about we make a spot (say, at the nwn.wikia site) where people can post links to their Amazon wish lists, and another spot (say, right here) where people can make requests for ShaDoOw or The Krit or whomever they want to thank to make and link a list.
We could call it Anonymous Rewards, Gifts, and Honors, or A.R.G.H. for short. ;-)
Like, dislike? Flame away.
Crazed idea: a way to reward your favorite NWN authors

Oops, there's one problem: a public wiki would not work for posting links to wish lists, because unscrupulous folks would substitute their own lists for famous content creators' lists, and instead of sending a gift to AD, I'd be unknowingly sending a gift to Hacky McHackerson.
So this forum or The Vault itself, where identity can be more easily verified, would be a better place to put links to such lists.

NeverwinterConnections.com might be able to provide an entry in the Members' profile for such links? Up for it? BTW, I love the acronym - every builder/scripter/modeller is soooo familiar with it already.

No flames; any recognition would seem fine.
But I will encourage those that wish to pat these virtual folks on the back to vote and offer some feedback on the various sites, post a pic or a vid of your characters using their stuff, etc. It does not need to cost anything to show these wpndermous Techies, writers, and developers how much we think of them.
Just a couple of coppers....

Comments on the NWVault would go a ways to showing appreciation too. When people give their creations away for free they are usually after intangible rewards rather than monetary. The joy is in sharing what you made and seeing that it makes others happy. Sometimes you get the benefit of constructive criticism too.
The dead silence however... is deafening and discouraging.

I get a sense of satisfaction in knowing someone else has enjoyed something I've created. Feedback in the form of comments is not only rewarding, but motivational too..... oops.... looks like I've just repeated what Henesua said. Recognition is the biggest reward. I'd rather have ten people say they liked something about my work than one person sending me a gift.

Looks like I missed this thread.
Physical gifts are a novel idea, but I'm going to be honest and say that I really like comments and votes on things that I release for people to use on the Vault (especially as NWN traffic has slowed over the years). I like opinions on things I've contributed, and it is nice encouragement to keep going.
