I saved my game after the scene following the end of the game..before going outside to celebrate victory. When I loaded the game back, Shale was broken:
Looks like the textures from shale and from the armor from the golem at the anvil of the void got mixed up

I most plikely won't even play through this game again because of disappointment in a few of the technical areas..

Oh well..at least it wasn't game breaking..I most likely will never play from that spot anyways..I just saved it to see the ending again and the dialogue etc.

With all the texture and other issues you've had New, I'm starting to wonder if its something with your machine and not the game causing conflicts. I've had none of the issues in 2 and a half play throughs that you have.

No EVERYone has the Texture issues..it's not a computer issue. The game was released with some low-res textures in place of hi-res and some missing textures. Just look under a campfire..you see that shiny weird texture? That's supposed to be some ash like texture...that's just one example.
Look at the wagon in the camp..see how bad it looks..that's incorrect. BioWare even confirmed this but still to this date no fix has been released..and I doubt ever will be..they can't even get the game breaking issues fixed
Sorry to sound bitter ...I love this game and I think it is the best game I have ever played or at least top of the list..there is so much going on that it is truly amazing..but it doesn't excuse the issues...it could have been easily the best game ever (at least for me)

No I realize the low res textures are there for everyone on certain prop pieces, blame the consoles and their lack of memory (PS3 especially) for that. But I've not had any out right corruption like your shale example. Artifacting like that is generally a sign of an overheating graphics card or driver conflicts. Not saying thats your problem just that I haven't encountered anything like that so far.

I was wondering about that myself. I'm glad it's not just me! Well, for values of "glad", of course. It'd be nice if they'd fix it.NewYears1978 wrote...

Interesting to read about others experiences with the camp fires, too: I'd wondered why mine appeared to have a large jellyfish in them.

Ah..no I have no other graphical issues..this one is a known issue..Shale texture is getting replaced with other golem texture...
I just installed JB Texture mod and the game looks about 20x better now..if it had been released this way I would have said it was the best game ever made...oh well.

I just tried installing that mod and either I did it wrong or it didn't change a thing at least when it comes to the camp itself. C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\. is where I "installed" it like the instructions say but it didn't ask me to overwrite anything at all.

Do you have an override subdirectory in there? If you look in:CoS Sarah Jinstar wrote...

C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override
you should see a whole bunch of dds files. Note that if you're using Windows 7 64 bit, the first component of the path should be "Program Files (x86)".

The game looks WAY better. The wagon..wow. Im actually considering a second play through now...that or start modding..can't decide. I didn't want to get into modding too much while playing the game because of the single player issues..and I thought "finally done" but now I want to start over... Then again...the story won't be near as good the second time around ..except for the origin.
