It starts off fine, then it stops, and gives me this error message:

An Error occured applying the 1.02 update to your version of Dragon Age: Origins. [36]

And in the Updater window itself, it also has 36 displayed. So I'm wondering if it's line 36, or item 36, and how I can get this thing updated.

I did search for this problem in other threads, but I didn't see this specific one. /sigh, I hate computers sometimes.

Having the same problem here - 1.02 won't install.  Although the number 9 was displayed once instead of 36.

Edit: I've tried rebooting; removing saved games and creating a new charcter; re-installing the previous patches.
Still getting that same "36" error.

I am wanting to install 1.02 because I can't progress the relationship with Leliana.  I believe this is because I increased her approval by too much too soon.

Grateful for any advice

Update: I have tried applying the update in WinXP Safe Mode and with anti-virus off without success.

I don't have any mods installed.

I've noticed the the error (usually) occurs when trying to modify the global.rim file

It could be a faulty download. My internet will sometimes die during a download - the download "completes" - but it's not really done.

Sometimes, downloaded files just get corrupted during transfer.

Also - make sure the file comes from BioWare directly (not a 3rd party source).

It's a bit hard to find the patch page - here is the link:

http://social.biowar...ame_patches.php

Downloading the file again might help.

I've tried downloading it from the bioware site a couple of times, but the result is the same.

It's not a gamebreaker - just annoying.

I'll probably just have to wait for 1.03.

I don't suppose anyone has found a solution to this problem yet? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing and no luck.

nope, its a bioware problem, i think, also it could be because not every one bought the disk, any Steam users might have the same problem,/illegal downloads too.

Here's a few threads which people have said what they did to resolve error 36, the solutions look to all be very different, and possibly platform specific. Not having run into the problem myself I can't say which might be best.

This is crap. I am still getting this error. I refuse to do the uninstall/reinstall thing. Come on, BIOWARE - get it together!

I'm in the same boat. Error [36]. Windows Vista Home Premium x64. Tried removing temporary files and patch logs. No joy.

I've been informed (in another thread) that this is not an official support forum but a place for users to help each other. Silly, for Bioware to have a "Support" forum and not monitor or contribute to it but there it is. I'm going to try and find the official channel and report this patch bug.

Wish me luck!

I had the same error [36]

But this method, linked to by Kepha, worked great and was easy to use: http://social.biowar...58/index/532591
