Obviously the OP is my thoughts on story type elements we would like to see continued in some form in DA2 and hopefully other people will feel the need to contribute as well. By the very nature of this thread I would recommend you just closing the window if you haven't yet finished the game.

• Continuation of your character from all endings (yeah, even your sacrifice one. The reason I'd like to round-about state is due to the meta-physical existance that seems to be the Fade).
• Any political rammifications from your decisions to be continued, e.g: the divine's making more than just rumblings in declaring an Exalted March upon Orzammar in the event of either the new Orzammar Mage's Tower or the assassination of Chanter Burkel. Another example would be the power squabbles brought about by the Lord Harrowment succession (something similiar would likely happen with Bhelen as well). Numerous otherwise examples would abound too (King Alistair's appointment of an Elf as part of his court)
• Continuation of Origin themed stories, eg: Delilah (or son) been torn between her infatuation with the PC (no doubt being increased by his now legendary status as 'hero of Ferelden') and the fact that (s)he killed his/her dad.
• Political clout the new Grey Wardens would possess as being the holders of the arl of adamantharine (or whatever).
• More Fergus/origin character involvement. Castle Cousland was held by one of the most powerful families in Ferelden yet it's castle was frankly boring in comparison. Tell me more about Jowan (getting mind-wiped/killed just seems a waste of his character really...)
• Pre-existing romances reset (or subdued).. as hot as the French accent sounds, Leliana for example strikes me as a bit of a freely loving woman. Easy to fall in and out of love.
• More travel! Not necessarily limited to just within Ferelden, mounted travel (horses/wagons?) and mounted combat?
• Larger focus on the Fade and its inhabitants. Obviously I can't speak for everyone and this is my own belief of course, but it felt as if the Fade and what it represents is far more ominious a threat than what it appears.
• Redcliffe demanding Isolde's death for her lax judgement with Connor/Jowan etc.
• More origin play (via flashbacks etc).
• class related quests (why does no-one make a single mention of the fact that somehow you have brought back a supposedly extinct class; the Arcane Warrior? You're obviously a mage yet no one is confounded as to how you married wearing plate while being well... physically weak?)
• Your own plot related abilities/spells (beyond class/specializations).
• More varied romance options, and despite what I typed earlier, perhaps involving former party members... even if it would politically be a very bad thing...
• Crossroad keep-esque exercises.
• Veil sundering at places such as Ostagar and Denerim, hampering attempts to rebuild?
• Duncan's fate revealed... come on, the game is gory and doesn't otherwise pull punches as in other death sequences (other than perhaps Riordan). The screen flashes to white just as his head is to be cleaved in two just like it does some seconds later when you get an arrow through your pecs before Flemeth's timely intervention. Coincidence? Perhaps not!
• More talents/abilities and choices with synergies. Example? Maybe a warrior can 'flurry' with a 2h equipped, but obviously your flurry isn't as quick or it doesn't do as much damage. Maybe taking two weapon sweep means you can't take 2h sweep.
• Deeper specializations/more specialisations. Weapon attack capabilities (such as charging spells through their blades) or a Templar's Righteous Strike 'ignites' its target's mana supply for secondary damage. Perhaps a Champion can disarm?
• Scaled weapon abilities/spells. Perhaps flaming weapons should add more damage to a 2hander than a dual wielder to counter the increased swing timer?
• More sync-kills (to borrow terminology from the Dawn of War games) although, perhaps making the character doing the killing invulnerable at the same time?
• Morrigan! Not necessarily interactions with her, but her shadow being felt regardless... and perhaps any children she has. Personally, I wouldnt make it a DLC, but rather a game itself.
• Grey Warden utter bafflement at your survival/return.
• Schism within the Grey Warden's ranks at the above, some perhaps thinking you're like a 'modern' version of a savior and others much more alarmed.
• Jealousy? Despite being (close) friends, maybe Anora/Alistair/Loghain are becoming a tad uneasy with your easy popularity amongst their subjects and may fear you having ambitions upon the throne (or others are uneasy with the fact you already sit on it...)
• Good old friends/lovers becoming bitter foes, perhaps they can be reasoned with, or not. Perhaps you can convince them or they you.
• Voiced dialogue... data storage indeed would be immense (considering the multitude of origins shipped and any DLC options, but the character immersion is much greater in my honest opinion. Perhaps tied to the voice characteristics chosen at character interaction, or those could be discarded and one-size-fits-all policy introduced like the awesome Mark Meer or Jennifer Hale from Mass Effect).
• Phonetic pronounciation of your characters first name. A simplistic version (i.e, a large large list) was supplied in I believe Codemasters' game: Grid.
• Voiced dialogue. Added again for emphasis. Mainly because after being spoilt really by Mass Effect, it just seemed like a giant step backwards.
• Seeing effects active on the enemy (and not just spells) such as sunder etc and/or as part of the mob's nameplate.
• Branching tree system for talents?

Anyway, that's all I can think of atm, feel free (in fact, consider it to read: 'actively encouraged' to add your own thoughts/ideas.

O_O... That is a lot to hope for though it is 3:41 am here and I might just be going cross eyed with wall o' text syndrome. Pay me no nevermind.
