I cant even romance Garrus,because I enjoy bromancing him more. Yup, marine buddies. All of them Vega, Kaidan, Wrex and Ash.

Well its Liara for sure. BW made it nearly too easy to notice when LOTSB DLC came.

I think the "canon" LI is either Liara or Ashley. Though Liara is a much better candinate as Ashley is brave and goes without her plotarmor.

There is no 'Canon LI' - or at least there shouldn't be. BW gave us multiple romance choices, they can't just turn around and say ''Oh, yeah we gave you a choice, but you made the wrong one; silly you.''

I think this is more of an opinion thread. Like who is your personal canon LI, not so much a discussion to figure out BioWare's "official" canon, which I don't think there is one; not an official one at least. If they did, there would be a lot of unhappy fans.

Yeah there would be, but its more annoying when they hide their official opinion in game from ME2 to ME3. When they could just say it to us, romance Liara or you doing it wrong :pinched:

I know, I hate that bias. I like Liara but danggit she takes such high priority in the story. =]

Eh, my post wasn't targeted only at you. Multiple people have said something along the same lines. I'm pretty sure the OP intended for this to be a "who is your canon LI", but I can easily see why it could be construed to be a debate on who BioWare's canon LI is.

Tbh, I can't see Liara haters here.

The only thing I hate is the lack of content for any other LIs compared against Liara. That doesn't make Liara hateworthy or something - I like her. I still dislike the fact the rest of the LIs got crippled / reduced content. Some of them simply got killed, not just visually but also as character (Jacob, for example). And at least one so called romance is a bad joke: Allers' fling. Cortez & Traynor never got a proper treatment: Cortez moves on too quickly (he's still mourning over his hubby's dead!) and Traynor is quite straight forward. And showers in underwear ... wtf?

Just saying.

Lemme write those romances for ME3 and everyone gets a proper treatment. :blush:

Basically this.

I can say the same about Ashley. I still love her as my only LI - but her character got brutally damaged in ME3. She's reduced to "Cerberus,. Cerberus, Cerberus". Where's the poetry? Where's her religion? And why's she nearly never talking to Shepard? 
Ash always was straight forward with her words. She talked a lot. Hard to believe she's now Miss Silent in the Observatory Room, not interaction with anyone else. That's not Ashley.

I wouldn't call it Canon, but the romance story of Kaidan or Ashley is what I see as the deepest. If you ask who is supposedly Shepard's canon from BioWare's prespective, then it's no doubt Liara.

People can continue to repeat ad infinitum that there's no canon LI, but it doesn't make a difference. Heck, Bioware can say there's no canon LI (and they have I think), but they still shoe-horned Liara into your life. They made it so that Liara is the one who appears closest to Shepard above anyone else.

She:
Rescues Shepard's body.

Gives him/her to Cerberus in hopes that they can bring Shepard back to life. Did we not see what happened at their research stations especially regarding Kahoku?

Hugs Shepard regardless of LI status. If romanced she kisses Shepard. Also, in either situation, you can find out that she couldn't let Shepard go...what?

Kaidan and Ashley never get anything more than the hug and that's only if they're an LI. Nothing else that demonstrates how close they are or could be, or a chance for you to express a closeness with them through Shepard. Nothing. They didn't even know about Liara sending you off to Cerberus.

So even if Ashley/Kaidan were your LI they are left completely in the dark for the entire rest of the series (ME2 - ME3) about how Shepard came to be among the living again. How do I feel I know this? Because Ashley would have taught Liara that she still has a lot to learn despite being a 108 year old doctor.
