What can I expect? it was on sale, thought I'd try it out.

I've replayed KOTOR (such an amazing Bioware game) it's what SW should be and expect it should be (hence episode 1-3 epic let down)

it is darker and if you enjoy philosophy then you would love Kreia.

Canderous, Hk-47 and T3M4 are back.

there are 7 lightsaber forms(no djem so but there is Shien) and force forms.

No matter what, your character will get 3 lightsabers forms and 1 force forms regardless.

Jedi Consulars, Sith Lords and Jedi Masters will learn all 4 forms. If you gain a presitage class of Watchman/Assassin or Maruadar/WeaponMaster, your Jedi will learn lightsaber forms regardless of base class.

Combat mechanics are pretty much intact. You can craft your own weapon and armor mods. Consequently even blasters now deal a lot of damage.

Storywise it can be quite frustrating, especially the ending. It is a fun game nevertheless.

wasn't it a different company? Bioware didn't release it. the studio is like obsidian or something, never heard of them

Both Bioware and Obsidian did Kotors. LucasArts holds the rights for the both of them. Due to the popularity of Kotor 1, LucasArts decided that they wanted to rush Obsidian for Kotor 2

this sounds exactly why I find ME3 not that good.........

if game publishers knew any better. they wouldn't go and "rush" things but out of Respect of the developers and fans - they'd give them the time they need to put out the game "as it ought to be"

KotOR 2 is a lot better if you download the Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM). It restores a ton of cut content, including missing dialogue and scenes, and the ending doesn't seem so WTF. Do a vanilla run first and then get the mod, you'll notice a HUGE improvement. (IMO)

knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront website will have a few different restore content mods, read through them to find the better one.

I found the KOTOR 2 to be a great game, it did have a different feeling from the first one but that is to be expected from a different developer of which I think they did a good job seen as they were rushed for the reasons people have mentioned. There are many improvements and additions in the game that I really enjoy but it can be buggy.

whaaa

I can't sacrifice that much. The movies is the only thing to keep me interested since the gameplay controls are ancient...I'll never finish LOL!

I did enjoy it and played it through a couple of times, the last time was fairly recently (with the Resto mod) and I'd say that the mod definately improved it.

The additional combat stuff (lightsaber forms etc) seemed a bit pointless to me and I never paid too much attention to it. The game is fun, no doubt, but I found the combat to be a little too easy. The story can seem a bit convoluted (especially without TSLRCM) due to the amount of intended stuff that never made it into the game because of LucasFarts and their magical moving deadlines.

All in all it's still a good game, but for me it just wasn't as good as KOTOR I, and it's not Obsidian that I blame for it it's LA. If you liked KOTOR I there's plenty there for you to enjoy :)

when does the game get interesting? Ive just started........have no idea whats going on and the battle mechanics really make a boring game. But if the story picks up, I'm willing to give it a go
