I have to acree with the two C's. While it's true that we learned a lot about him in Awakening, a lot of that went out the window with the Big Change ™ and he became a whole new person.

True, but the change in his personality was also explained as being a result of his fusion with Justice. I think, canonically, he was still the same person we knew in Awakening before a serious case of possession between DA:A and DA2 brought out hidden colours in both of them. (At least, I hope so, unless one of the devs have said differently? D:)

Plus, a lot of people don't even realize that we never learn his real name - EVER. He's called Anders because the Chantry brought him to the Ferelden Circle all the way from the Anderfels. Yet he never talks about his family, his home, or how he came into his mage powers. That still strikes me as cold on the writers' part. Image IPB

Anders - Short Story by Jennifer Hepler (the woman who did the writing for Anders in DA2) gives a little insight into these things. Definitely not enough to start writing his biography, but a little more understanding of his background and character. =)

Anders without a shadow of a doubt. So very little is known about him.

With Anders also being in Awakening, I felt like Anders was the one we knew most about. I can't come up with big questions about his past that remain a mystery.

I actually disagree with this. We know a lot about what he stands for, but besides his facination with cats we know very little about him. He is very secretive about his background beyond "Templars are bad Aaaargh!".

I would have loved to meet Malcolm during the events of the Prologue. It felt awkward to hear my Hawke speak sadly of this father that I never actually met.

I agree with this and its an example of something we had to be told by the devs and not actually find out from the character himself. We learn more about the characters through the devs and not from the game. I think the devs really failed there. I mean if you romance him you pretty much declare your undying love for the guy and you dont even know his real name? C'mon. Obviously the romances in DA are extreme and usually not very realistic but things like their name, or finding out that it isnt their real name, is an important detail.
