I don't understand why diehard Liara fans stand by her development; sure screen time for your favourite character is nice, but not when it's painfully bad. T'Soni has about 4-5 different personalities through the course of the series (including comics). Less is definitely more in this case.tilusN7 wrote...
Oh I agree, they made her look like a fool in ME3, but it's not really right to hate on the character because of the person that wrote her. I mean there was so much potential with her being the Shadow Broker, it's possible they didn't want it to be too overpowered.
And yeah, her being the Shadow Broker was such a ridiculous waste.

I think that's my biggest complaint with Liara in ME3. While it is perplexing I can overlook her personality change, but her being almost completely ineffective as the SB is mind boggling.

Also just for the record, Liara was barley in ME2 so her having more stuff in ME3 is not an issue at all.

You kidding, son? Joker's arse would be out the airlock in half a picosecond if I had any say at all. When I saw the scene where EDI asked which one of them I would save, I sorely wished I had the option to tell her that I would save her over Joker every time.Mr.House wrote...
I love how people complain this game has to much Liara, yet I have yet to see anyoen complain about Joker which has gotten more screen time then any of the ME characters and is forced down our throats, but hey being bias is always nice.

Her screentime is fine, if many of us have to deal with characters we don't like or hate, then so do oyu. Bioware always plays favs and certain characters get more attention/focus, I have yet to see a Bioware game that did not do it.mauro2222 wrote...

I do feel for those that dislike Liara because they almost feel obligated to befriend her or make her their love interest. It shouldn't be that way! You should have the same kinds of feelings and drama unfolding with each squad mate and possible love interest..
For example... If you romances said character they should be the ones to interject thoughts and ideas instead of Liara unless it pertained to Shadow Broker inetl or something relevant that is in her realm of expertise. I know for sure other characters have expertise on specific situations that only Liara currently in game makes comment, interjections and giving usefull intel on said encounter or event.
Mass Effect 3 I think was driven to focus on Liara when it should have been every important character. Tali and Garrus are 2 of my other favorite characters in Mass Effect. I don't think they did them justice, or the Mass Effect Crew members justice for that matter.

For you, not for me. She changes every 5 min and takes screentime perfectly made for other people.

Hey now.
She totally tells us about some mercenaries who join up if you rescue them.
I mean, the mercenaries may've turned out to be Shadow Broker agents, and we may've had to go talk to another Shadow Broker agent to find out about where they are so really why couldn't she just tell us herself, but that still counts. Right? Right?

I don't even LIKE Liara but whenever something important seems to go down, Liara pops up and gives an opinion. She even creeps up into my room and shows off this weird time capsule/house for Glypth (should I care???) while trying to hit on me at every oppotunity. You're the Shadow Broker now dangit, you should probably know I'm already taken.
Even worse you're literally forced to take her on as your only other squadmate after Mars, since Ash got her face bashed in for pratically half the game. So after that she won't shut her mouth either. Even worse, on missions where I take Liara and someone substaintally more important to me, it defaults to her opinion on the big issues. No I don't care that you're visiting Eden Prime that once had a Pro-teh-hen beacon on it, you weren't even there and I really don't care. Then we find out about Javik and you're disgustingly excited all mission (made me sick), well at least that bites you in the rump. I'm dreading the ending where my final thought will be of a non-romanced Liara because I'm apparently too stupid to remember I'm seeing Tali. That'll go over real well with her, I'm sure.
I just don't get it. Why is Liara such a Bioware favourite? She goes from kiddie bookworm -> unhelpful floozy who is a jerk to me all of ME2 -> gets an ENTIRE hardcore DLC dedicated to little ol' her (Zaeed and Kasumi? They are short, if interesting Loyalty missions at best) -> returns in the first 15 mins to half hour of ME3 and is basically your 2nd squadmate option from the getgo. They even CRIPPLE the Virmire Survivor to make SURE you play with Liara. And then she's just freaking everywhere, and if you don't drag her along to "X mission", you're "missing out" (my guidebook even specifically RECOMMENDS dragging her on certain missions for her "unique opinion"). She just apparently became so dang wise in between 2 and 3, since nobody else could possibly tell me what she has to say... not that she has a replacement since she can't be KILLED in any game >_<
Wrex was important, but he's too busy. Legion was important, oops he 'died'. I dislike Ash almost as much Liara, but I would've preffered her understated and exceedingly racist opinion... but oh well her face got smashed in. Better do a couple of story-planets before she can walk again. But Liara never leaves, never dies, and manages to worm her way into my squad on Thessia... better bring Javik and hope she explodes from rage.
TLDR; Why does the space Smurfette get such a giant role in ME3, and previous? It's a game in space, she is a space alien lady (Bioware: "Actually, they don't have genders. But they look like blue human women, so we can have a lesbian sex scene that isn't actually lesbian. LOLUMAD groups pining for same-sex Ash/Kaiden?"), we get it she fits the genre, but there's plenty of places I could go on the interenet if I just wanted to skank around. There's such a thing as moderation, and even if you never played ME before Liara can and will shove herself down your throat. I found Shiala more interesting of a character, and she was freaking GREEN.
Your game is not saturated with Liara any more than it's saturated with Garrus and Anderson. You just dislike her character, which is a different story altogether. But complaining that a certain character gets too much screen time just because you dislike them seems kinda petty.
I don't care for Samara and Jacob and found their missions boring. But I don't complain that those missions existed, especially knowing that those characters are loved by other fans (okay, maybe not Jacob). No, they didn't get as much screen time as Liara, but it's still content I enjoyed less. But I still played it and survived.
Hope you're gonna be ok, OP.

She explains in the first 2 hours of the game that many of her informants have died (and are dying every day). The shadow broker exchanged in information related to crime, intrigue, and politics. It doesn't follow that she would have sudden knowledge about the reaper invasion, especially considering that her informants (which the Shadow Broker has relied on throughout all 3 games) are probably too occupied with survival to engage in online secret-peddling.
Go talk to her sometime in her quarters. She almost always has some information to lend context to your most recent mission.

I'll just say that I agree. I don't hate Liara, I actually kinda liked her before ME3, but she really is shoved down your throat at every passing opportunity. The flashback at the end was the icing on the cake, really.
