I'd say a certain Normandy pilot got much more scenes and lines compared to the shuttle pilot despite the fact that he had extensive amount of content in previous 2 ME games. Ohh and certain Quarian & Turian were permanent squadmates in ALL 3 GAMES, the only squadmates to be in that position and both recieved already at least THREE personal mission (1 in ME1, 2 in ME3 and Tali had an entire Rannoch arc practically dedicated to her in ME3).Humakt83 wrote...

They can be killed in ME2. I dare say if Liara could be killed prior to ME3 these threads would shortly dry up.IsaacShep wrote...

Even if you don't romance her, she believes in your cause, knows you are the only one who can achieve this objective and wants to support you as much as she can. It's called being a friend O_O It's the same reason Joker is in the game more, he's just trying to support you.
Lovely =/= creepy/pushy
She's boring character, that gets forced down everyones throats some just take their poison willingly for some reason. Joker is the pilot and he's never a squadmate, he's not compareable to Liara. She's just a squaddie and like a true squaddie should be killable. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

And? That doesn't change more content was developed for them + Liara than for anyone else in the trilogy. And now this holy trinity, instead of Miranda/Thane/Jack/EDI/Ash/Kaidan/Javik, is also getting new comics because we know so little about them...Mr. Big Pimpin wrote...

His point is that you could avoid Tali and Garrus if you want. You really can't do that with Liara. She is in for the ride whether you like it or not.

Avoiding them doesn't give more content to Miranda/Thane/Jack/EDI/Ash/Vega/Kaidan/Javik. It was already spent on making Tali & Garrus permanent squadmates for the third time.G Kevin wrote...

And? There doesn't necessarily need to be new content to replace "what was lost". She just has to be somehow properly avoided.

Ok.
So we should take away stuff from current characters and give more to others? Why not just add more content for the other characters via DLC?

Yes because a character that's only in 1 game and still has less content than Liara, Tali, Garrus in that 1 game is totally comparable to Bioware's obvious favouritesHumakt83 wrote...

It's obviously irreversable at this point, but yeah, I sure hop future DLC will focus on ANYONE but Liara, Garrus & Tali (and Joker from non-squadmates). Everyone else needs more but these charactersG Kevin wrote...

True.
More content should be added for the rest of the characters.
Of course, if Bioware could pull it off, we could get content for ALL characters.
That would be great.

Game has too much Liara.
It would be perfectly fine if they gave the others just as much time. It also would've been fine if they made her time optional.
However, their did neither.

Genuine query as I've not posted here for long. But what with the 'What's with all the Liara in mysoupgame?' threads, I have to ask, were there a lot of complaints about Alistair's bigger role in DA: Origins? Cos it seems like a fairly similar situation.
Seriously, could someone answer this please?
It's not a similar situation, actually - Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 are a trilogy, featuring the same lead character and core supporting cast, and Liara is a required squad member for two of the three, with a starring DLC for the other one. Dragon Age Origins is part of a series with a variable lead and supporting characters, with Alistair making only a cameo in DA2, where he is only there as an easter egg to returning fans and has no bearing on the plot, as opposed to how you learn in ME2 that without Liara, Shepard would be stone dead.
Likewise, Alistair can die, either by letting Anora take the throne and not argue her order of execution or by having him kill the Archdemon. Liara is NEVER able to die. There's a required death on Virmire for Ashley or Kaidan and a possible death for Wrex, and every recruitable squadmate in ME2 can die on the suicide mission, with a second chance for Tali to die if certain choices on Rannoch in ME3 are taken. And the survivor of Virmire can die on the Citadel in 3. Of all the returning squadmates in ME3, Liara is the only one who will never die at any point in the series (unless you count running at the Conduit with too low an EMS, but by that point it doesn't really matter because it has absolutely zero effect on the plot).
There's also the enforced friendship with Liara - no matter what, she and Shepard have a strong positive relationship in the course of ME2 and ME3. Regardless of how the player wants to play their Shepard, that friendship is always there. At its worst, it's Shepard covering weakness to project a confident image, so s/he won't go into the intimate details, but Shepard is always polite and caring to Liara throughout ME3. Me, I want to play a Shepard who resents her for handing his body to Cerberus and enabled him to be brought back to life when he would have chosen to remain dead. Except I have to subtext the hell out of that characterization, because there is not a single line of dialogue in ME3 for Shepard to express anger or even irritation at her actions and a single option in ME2 to be angry immediately after learning what she did. You can play a Warden who is outright disdainful of Alistair, belittling him at just about every turn. Those are the things that separate Liara's role in ME3 to Alistair's in DAO.
Mostly, it's a matter of content. Because Liara is guaranteed to be there no matter what choices you've made in the last two games, she gets some very solid content, content that works great if you've romanced her. But if you didn't romance her, or have characterized a Shepard who doesn't like her, that content has no corresponding scenes with anyone else. It's have these intimate moments with Liara or never have them at all. Why do I never discuss Ashley/Kaidan with the other once they're on board? Why is my last conversation of importance the lock-in sequence on the Citadel? Where is the opportunity for Shepard to look to his/her LI and ask for them to be the shoulder that they cry on for once? It's a balance issue, where Liara's importance to the plot and especially to Shepard never changes, despite the player having the choice to turn her down and romance someone else.
