Femshep used to be awesome, hot but tough-looking, like a true marine she is.
Then she met Ashley, and whatever virus destroyed our hot hispanic Ash dealt with FemShep in a similar manner

I happen to like her. Either was it sloppiness or something else, I don't care, all her flaws, unsymmetrical face, funny blinking, wide jaw, bad camera angles, I like it all.
But, yeah. Opinions. Humor.

Male Shepard is the canon anyway, the choice to play female always appears to me as a last minute fix just to give a little more choice to players.

Femshep's problem isn't the face, is the voice acting that never seems to match the situation. Not saying that Hale is a bad voice actor (she isn't) but I don't know what makes her always sound so angry and speak badassfully even when it really isn't called for. She isn't good at speaking badassfully.

I guess they chose to go with this one because it's more original than long blonde hair.
Might have been a good thing too, or Femshep might have joined Ashley, Allers and Vega as recruits from Jersey Shore.

And to give female gamers a sense of immersion into their game, I don't think I would have ever played ME if not for the female protagonist option. This isn't because I wouldn't have liked the game otherwise, but because I only came across ME when looking for female protagonistic games.
My opinion is Hale's voice acting is superior to Meers. Meer sounds too monotone. So regardless of whether she can pull off badass or not (imo yes), overall her voice portrays a lot more emotion than Meers.
Lastly, Male Shepard is not canon, there is no canon Shepard... *facepalm*.

I guess, but in the official commercials of the game "Retake Earth" and stuff, in every official video and footage and previews of the game I've seen it's always John Shepard who appears there. Just type in google "Mass Effect 3 official wallpaper" and hit "images". See what you get.
I'm not saying female Shepard is an inferior choice, just that it feels like a patch to widen a little more the customization choices of players, or as you say, to give female players a greater degree of empathy with the character.

Two words - default Shepard.

I'm sure a lot of male gamers felt that way initially. But after 3 titles of having her around a LOT of gamers, a high number surprisingly male, prefer femshep. There is even a website dedicated to her, which I have the priviledge of being apart of !

Not even close.
I was asking because a lot (can I say a majority?) thinks femshep has better voice acting, especially in ME1. In fact next time I will use some
P.D:Yes I prefer femshep's voice acting. Not that maleshep is bad, though.
