First of all it should be oted that in most my paythroughs of ME1, Ashley is my LI. I do not think she is a racst, I like that she is religious yet not pushy about it, cares for her family and is not afraid to speak her mind. All these things and more is why I chose her in ME1.

In ME2, when I saw Ashley in stasis on Horizon, I freaked out. I tore Collectors apart with avengence. They may have killed me, but I wasn't about to let them get Ashley. When I finally confronted her, she broke my heart with how suspicious she was of me even though I am uber-paragon, attacked all Cerberus agents on site in ME1, had aliens in my party, including Garrus, proving I did not accept the Cerberus mantra, and just saved a bunch of colonists. While it hurt, I was later able to forgive her as yes, it is a bit unprecedented for someone to come back from the dead, and there will be some mixed emotions.

In ME3, however, she still kept up this suspicious act. She refused to listen yo my claims that I was me, compared me to a Cerberus husk, and worse. I was ever mean to her yet she made me feel like dirt, not caring at all what I went through, even though I had died.

On that note, I also RPed a religious Shep until I died and realized that there is no afterlife. This shook me at my core and I wanted to talk to Ashley about this, but she never allowed the opportunity.

And then finally, even though Ashley pretended to stop being so suspicious, she pointed a gun at me and showed her gut reaction of disgust and distrust at my presence on the Citadel.

While I was able to forgive her as a firend, romantic relationships require trust, understanding and support. Ashley in ME3 offered none of these. I can't be with someone who deep down questions whether or not I am still human and is prepared to kill me on a moment's notice. For these reasons, I can no longer be an Ashley fan and stick with her.:crying:

Ashley turned her gun on a councilor based on nothing but your word. Clearly, she does not trust you.

Fun fact: Shepard wonders the same thing.

A friend of mine and fellow Ashmancer had a lenghty post written dealing with your OP. he asked me to post it to the thread but later that day he said I shouldn't.

Well, doesn't hinder me to write my own post *g*

I think a lot of Ashley fans picked her as LI because of those treats and little flaws making her more authentic like most other fictional characters of any given game.

Try to take her PoV.

Does she know what Shepard did in the past two years? She could have believed your Shepard just faked death to defect to Cerberus and was working for them all those years. And to be honest: if a close friend would die today and return 2 years later as a Taliban, I wouldn't believe he "somehow got resurrected from the dead".
Keep that in mind: for Ash, Shepard was dead. Ashley does not know it's possible to bring back dead people - and technically spoken, it IS still almost impossible. With exception of Shepard, NONE returned from the dead and it's doubtful someone can pull that stunt any time soon.

Knowing this, Ashley can not believe Shepard simply "was dead" or "in coma" and suddenly decided to work for Cerberus. That and her confused feelings should explain why Ash reacts how she does.

Plus: Shepard's stupid attempt to recruit her for his (Cerberus') mission did it. Before that point, Ash was willing to listen. But recruiting her, suggesting to betray the Alliance ... well, I'm sure any loyal soldier would have reacted in a similar way.
Yeah, Garrus and Tali do follow you. But keep in mind Garrus was a Vigilante who had to fake his own death and Tali is not really a full blown member of the Quarian military in ME2. She's a specialist, but n soldier.

In ME3, however, she still kept up this suspicious act. She refused to listen yo my claims that I was me, compared me to a Cerberus husk, and worse. I was ever mean to her yet she made me feel like dirt, not caring at all what I went through, even though I had died.

Well - she feared your Shepard had become a Cerberus husk. It's totally understandable in my eyes. Keep in mind: to understand why Ash acts like she does, try to see it through her eyes.

She knows Cerberus did some inhuman experiments. And she knows Cerberus brought Shepard back. Her imagination tells her Cerberus could made some inhuman being of Shepard and technically, she's right. Shepard IS a cyborg, therefore he is INDEED closer to a husk than anyone else.

On that note, I also RPed a religious Shep until I died and realized that there is no afterlife. This shook me at my core and I wanted to talk to Ashley about this, but she never allowed the opportunity.

It kinda happens end of game when you're in the Cerberus base and Ash (romanced???) is with you.

Also it's a writer's fault: Ashley should have asked more and I want to know what she did the past two years as well.

And then finally, even though Ashley pretended to stop being so suspicious, she pointed a gun at me and showed her gut reaction of disgust and distrust at my presence on the Citadel.

She pointed her gun at Shepard, not at you *g*

And she did it for a reason. Who told her Shepard wasn't part of Cerberus' plans to take down the Council? He could have been a double agent after all. Ash did her duty. You can talk her down and she easily follows Shepard's word if you treated her well in the first half of the game.

Actually, convincing her Udina is the real threat at the moment is child's play. So she does trust Shepard.

While I was able to forgive her as a firend, romantic relationships require trust, understanding and support. Ashley in ME3 offered none of these. I can't be with someone who deep down questions whether or not I am still human and is prepared to kill me on a moment's notice. The BIG issue I do have (and barely can compensate with headcanon) is the second half of the game. She returns to the Normandy and ... well. Nearly no feedback on your missions, just one non-romantic scene ... Ash lacks content, period. The reward for staying faithful are two or three "I love you" lines, but that's it. Neither some extra talk (about the past years or something) nor extended scenes.

That's disappointing.

But I still stay loyal to her since I remember why I love her character.
