I SAW THE DEVIL
Image IPB

Loved this movie. It's not original is any sense, a South Korean spy's girlfriend is killed by a serial killer, he goes on a hunt for this killer and forces him to play a game of Cat and Mouse. What makes this movie original is in the way it is shot. It's easily one of the most violent movies I've ever seen, and makes Hostel and Saw look like Sesame Street episodes.

This movie is awesome, that guy is ruining it for the rest of us, and I want his jacket.

Last movie I saw was Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows with my Dad last night.  It's okay... but I wasn't quite in the right mood for it.  I did LOL at the *MIND BATTLE* scene Moriarty and Holmes have near the end.

Seeing how the entire plot is laid out in the trailer, I don't know what you're talking about. It's not like I laid out entire story lines or major events.

^ I don't know why, but that reminds me of the last seriously awful film I saw, which was Manos: The Hands of Fate. Well I got through the first 15 minutes and gave up. According to the guy who introduced me to the film, the guy who made it was tripping on LSD at the time, or the guy playing the satyr was (who apparently had his legs on backwards... oh and he looks like Zack Galifianakis) - I really hope those things are true if only so I know I didn't totally waste my time watching it >.<

I know that the satyr (Torgo, played by John Reynolds) was indeed on drugs, which sort of makes his performance a bit more understandable. His prosthetic legs/hooves were worn incorrectly, causing permanent damage, and then he got addicted to painkillers because of it, eventually committing suicide before the movie even premiered.

Could've sworn you said I was ruining the film. I thought you were referencing my brief synopsis.

Valentine's Day.  Literally a second ago.

It's the U.S rip-off of Love Actually and is nowhere near as funny, heart warming or clever. I'd recommend Love Actually instead of this cheesy Hollywood tack; if you fancy seeing something that'll make your heart melt and bring tears to your eyes. It also has an amazing cast including Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley and Colin Firth amongst others.

*Sigh*  That loved that film when it came out.  Last rom com I saw was Crazy, Stupid, Love - that definitely made my heart melt and bring tears to my eyes.

The American is one of my favorite movies and one of the best shot films ever made. Done with a 60's espionage feel to it, it's slow paced and methodical. While not the most faithful novel adaptation (A Very Private Gentleman), both stories work beautifully.

The last movie I saw in theaters was The Avengers, which I thought was fantastic.

The last movie I watched was on Sunday was Brotherhood of the Wolf. It had been sitting on my shelf for a while and it was begging to be watched.

Rock of Ages. Expected to hate it.

Hated it. Don't like musicals, don't like silly romantic fluff. Only went because it was the last time a bunch of my friends were all going to be in the same place.

Although, I do have to say...I expected Tom Cruise to be out of his element, but the guy nailed it. Too bad the two leads haven't gotten this whole "acting" thing down yet.

21 Jump Street. I thought it might be decent, turns out...it was hiliarious! I absolutely loved it! It was funny, action packed, and had the sentimental stuff that showed police brotherhood.

The Dark Knight Rises. Yes, it doesn't hold up to The Dark Knight. Yes, it has some glaring plotholes. But it's still one of the best movies I ever seen.

Mongol.

It's this lumbering, emotionally cold, old-fashioned escapist sweeping biopic on the early years of Genghis Khan, directed by Sergei Bodrov. The battle sequences are tremendous, and the performances are captivating, which makes for the sort of rousing, giant-scale entertainment that a figure as towering as Temudjin deserves.

However; while I can praise it's scenography, its revising of Temudjin being more than the stereotypical madman, and much more, I still felt a little disappointed over the movie. The way I interpreted, it was of Temudjin's rise to power that was the films focus. But alas, this was not the case. The movie focuses more on abduction and kinship, and of his early years. It doesn't delve into how he came to be the Great Khan, but instead on his characterization, which ultimately is not a bad thing.

Though it was not until later that I realized this movie was the first part in a trilogy, so in the end, the way that the movie decided to go may be a much more smarter move in the long run.

Avengers, it was pretty good. Though for me almost any movie with Robert Downey Jr. is great. That guy is just hilarious.
