I just saw this on ME3 forum. Is that true ? Is Stanley Woo gone from Bioware ?
Also he is no longer on the moderators list. Does anyone know what happened ?

Sometimes harsh, sometimes funny he was a great mod. I will miss his "End of line" Image IPB.
Anyway good luck Stan with whatever you are going to do next.

It seems he changed his name to Ninja Stan, and now bears the title "Moderator" beneath his name instead of "Bioware." No idea what brought this on.

Ninja Stan remains here as a Moderator, but evidently left Bioware last month. Here is a link to his blog:

Long story short- Stanley Woo is no longer employed by Bioware, though he returned to the forums under a new account "Ninja Stan" and remains a volunteer moderator.

Why is he no longer employed. I recall he used to be on the fourms a bunch. Either to discuss or the famous "End of Line" he got from Tron either way he was in high spirts. He will be missed.

I'm reading the article. It states that management saw him unmotivated after doing the job for 11 years. He's very open about the situation but it allow's us to look at thing's for another perspective. Was he like this because of direction of EA?

I always liked him. I understand that people sometimes can give mod's a tough time or the team at bioware, but deep down no one wants them to quit or leave. I never mocked him it's a sad event not too long ago I recall someone else leaving.

In exchange for writing books on based on Knights of Old Republic. As someone who seriously over think's everything.I wonder if this is going to be a pattern and I am concerned about the future of the company.

I do not know what roles he had if any that involved anything with making the actual game.

First of all, I think it might help all of us to write of him in the present tense; not past.

And while I have no knowledge of his full involvement, I believe I have seen his name in the QA listings of every major game developed over the past decade; from NWN1 onward; at least the ones I own, I believe.

Hmm, Drew Karpyshyn and Brent Knowles have also left Bioware in the last year or so - now Mr. Woo has left, too.

I sense a disturbance in the Force...

Folks departing has been going on a while, and when they are involved, it does create speculation and wonder. I recall when Dan Whiteside and Bob McCabe left, but believe I have seen their name appear on titles since their departures. It is my hope this is because of continued collaberation, and not just some legalese stuff, but I take it as a positive sign.

My sympathies are with any losing their jobs during this economy. I am blessed to have family and friends, and have been able to clear up some problems since last year. Many folks do not have such safety nets, and I am guessing bureaucracy is messed up everywhere; always has been a pain for me. So here is my best wishes to all making such trnsitions wherever they may be.

Heh, I thought about using that line, but it didn't seem to fit at the time.

Now all that needs to happen is for someone from BW to come in and reply "I find your lack of faith disturbing" - then the circle will be complete.

I would not bait Ninja Stan; believe his first post under the new handle was another thread closure.

Now that you aren't employed by EA, you can indeed let those juices flow more freely. This blog was wonderfully written...insightful, entertaining, emotional...informative about various, shall we say, "dislikes"...but with a respectful overtone. Good stuff.

I'm not sure what your plans are, but embrace the change and try not to let that inevitable kindle of fear of the unknown get too large. Because that kindle is inevitable for everybody with focus and intelligence.

Want a challenge, Mr. Woo? Apply at Bethesda Game Studios. They give their devs free reign and modest deadlines. Five year development cycles...and you could work wonders. Just set up a meeting with Todd Howard at the very least and say hi.

He got tired of the system and its red tape. He told Bioware they could take his badge, but he was keeping the gun. Now's he's a vigilante on the edge.
