Now now, let's not inundate Mr. Woo with our EA hate - I can't imagine that turning out well for anyone.

I don't hate EA. Apathy comes to mind. I have steered clear of EA for years because of what they do with good development houses and it hasn't changed. BW sorta put a dent in that when they were bought. But I have repaired my armor since then, won't happen again.

I'm glad you're still with us Stan. But there's something I need to get off my chest.

EA JUST SUCKS! THEY ARE DESTROYING BIOWARE AND I JUST HATE THEM WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING!!!

And? This accomplishes what for you? What does this help to change?

Not that I can speak for Urk, but sometimes it can be a relieve to just say out loud what you're thinking. Getting it off your chest ya know. ;) Don't tell me you never shouted something out loud (something that bothered you), simply for the sake of gettting it out, getting it off your chest.

If I didn't from time to time I'd got GTA on everyone.
It also helps to play GTA lol.

Stan, can you please lock a thread with "end of line" and/or ban me for 24h for old times sake? I'd surely appreciate that.

You wouldn't steer clear of something you were apathetic towards.

I've been doing the same job for four and a half years and I hate it with every fiber of my being. But with two mouths to feed at home, you're stuck. I envy you, Mr Woo.

I can understand that, but sometimes you have to consider the happiness factor. Sure, with a job you hate you might be feeding the family, but at what cost to you, your sanity, your health? I'm fortunate(?) enough to be single with no children to worry about.

Work-life balance is an increasingly important factor, now that we have tablets and always-on internet and various ways for you to be "at work" even when you're not at work. Every person must make their own decisions based on their own priorities.

It's a brave and scary thing you have done Mr Woo and I wish you the best of luck for the future.  My husband did a similar thing a number of years back when he left recruitment.  It meant a big salary drop and a lot of self evaluation but he found his feet and a new career and is the most settled and happy that I've ever known him.  The happiness factor is extremely important! :)

Indeed it is. hopefully, I'll find employment in an industry where "crunch time" is a foreign concept but "double time and a half" is not. ;)

So what are your plans now if you dont mind me asking? Find a new position within the gaming industry, work on projects of your own or find a new line of work in a totally different industry?

Also are you still under NDA? Cant reveal all of Bioware's dark secrets? Like what the Mass Effect team's next project is?

No plans yet, but I'm thinking it won't be in the games industry. BioWare kind of spoils you for other companies when you're in QA, but I'm not looking for a QA position, nor am I qualified for another department.

I am still under NDA, so any "secrets" I may hint at or reveal will be used solely for trolling and teasing the community for my own amusement. :P

I'm not particularly fond of you Mr. Woo, and I know the feeling is mutual, but...

I do sincerely wish you the best and hope you find something both satisfying and well compensated as soon as you're ready.

Well, Stanley, while I can certainly admit that I didn't agree with some of the stuff you've said here on the forums (guess that's what forums are for), you have always been at the front between Bioware and the players even before the BSN existed and for the most part a welcoming presence whatever the discussion may be. Good luck in whatever plans you have for the future, and nice to see you still hanging around.

Aye, you and I didn't see eye to eye on one occasion, but it's no big deal - good luck in your future ventures all the same.

You're...alive?

I genuinely hope things work out for you, to whatever direction you hope to take.

I am still under NDA, so any "secrets" I may hint at or reveal will be used solely for trolling and teasing the community for my own amusement. :P

So in other words, pulling a gabe newell. :)

Good luck in your future endeavors, Stanley. We've had some interesting conversations in the past, well...More you chiming in with official responses to threads that were getting out of hand. Still, I enjoyed it. Good to hear you will still be around in some capacity.

What do you mean? They were my employer for, what, 4 years or so? They never missed a cheque, and I never had trouble communicating with some of their admin, HR, or Stock Administration staff when needed. That is perhaps the only interaction I have had with the EA side of the company.

This is so weird. Believe it or not, but a few months ago (in February or March) I had a dream that Stanely Woo quit the company and his reason for doing so was he didn't like what the company turned into or what it was doing. It wasn't specific, but that's what I remember. I am not making this up.

Anyway. good luck to you and your future endeavors, Mr. Woo.
