Ever wonder why there are medigel kits inside any Geth level? Droids get booboos too you know.

Because certain "features" EDI has are surely flesh and blood...
Also, mass effect fields!

The game mechanics aren't always going to make complete sense, storywise.

They should.

You're not very fond of appealing game design if you believe that.

I think you'll find that Sylvius' idea of appealing design doesn't much resemble yours.

You do not need to see her identification.

She's not the droid you're looking for.

It'd be stupid to have party members that healing items don't work on.

I think KOTOR had healthkits for humans, and repair kits for robots.
It was a pain having to buy both, but it didnt stop me from using HK47.  Hes just too awesome in both games.

Then you use a different healing device that can heal everyone.

That's funny, because in KOTOR you could only heal "organic" members with the force (for those who didn't play KOTOR, it worked ingame exactly like medigel). For droids like Hk-47 and T3M4 you had to use separate repair kits. So it's a step backward for BioWare.

Good point. Though we had 2 droids in KOTOR (3 in KOTOR 2) so there was more use for Repair kits than just Legion in ME2 and EDI in ME3. Still, they could've left OmniGel in the game and use it precisely to repair Legion (ME1 didn't have a synthetic squadmate) and also to bypass mini-games. I mean, why not?

My idea of appealing game design isn't really my own, just what I've learned in school.

Omnigel should have made a return!

It fixed the mako, picked locks and could help EDI!

@OP

While we can easily assume "because of gameplay" to be the answer, there is a way to explain it ingame as well.

Nanites. Medigel is a Solution that contains a couple million Nanites which are programmed to restore ailments of their host body. They are flushed out of the host system after a set time.

Since Medigel seems to work on Tali as well as Shepard too, Tali being a special case as her wounds usually would mean her suit was broken, as well as Shepard being a special case considering his is part synthetic and undead its save to assume Medigel is able not only to close wounds and seal suits, but also restore implants, such as an Biotic implant, once it was damaged.

This leads to assume that Medigel are indeed small nano machines which probably use the solvent as nutrient to reproduce themselves for the tasks they need until their internal energy runs out and the bodies immun and waste disposal system flushes them out natrually. Nanites would not only be able to seal suit breaches and fix Implants, but also close wounds, by forming a protective layer which gets pushed out as the new skin crows, but also able to restore body function by bypassing neural pathways and "shocking" regions of the brain into action (thus waking people up)

B.     Funny you should mention this: a questionable, possibly lore-breaking concept, implemented by the creator of an iconic sci-fi franchise, that many feel ruined, or at least seriously detracted from, said franchise....

:innocent:

To bad they are almost as old as the Franchise.

"It is said that certain creatures are born with a higher awareness of the Force than humans. Their brains are different; they have more midi-chlorians in their cells."
―George Lucas, establishing guidelines for the Expanded Universe in 1977

Funfact: Star Wars the movie was first released in May 1977.

So its a little odd when people go around and speak about how Midi-Chlorians ruined the franchise if they are actually as old as the franchise, just haven't been mentioned in a movie before.

Its true that they were kinda a mute topic, but the first Comics by Marvel made use of them, also back in the day. As well as the first Novel not written by Lucas mentions them. Marvel, i think was it, who drew some stupid handheld device which looked like a portable cassette tape recorder with two salad spoons attached to it. With it people could check force sensitivity. Its how the empire hunted Jedis without possessing them.

Maybe not, but I'm not going to let it bother me when there are so many larger issues to deal with before ME3 becomes an acceptable product.

It would be better than having to carry around some kind of robot medicine just for one squad member.
