So I decided to reroll my epic main Warden again. I am now about to enter Deep Roads and feel like I should take Ogren with me, because
a) I never did, seriously, not once in five plathrs
B) I kinda like his and Branka's story
с) I never use him otherwise.
But to do so I will have to switch Sten out, which I don't feel like doing because Sten. I vaguelly half-remember there to be an option to change your party after each part of Deep Roads. Is that true?
Thanks

I started an Aeducan PT just to keep Oghren in the party all the time, because I never used him much, either. (Or, after early levels, Sten, tbh. I can't get the hang of 2H fighters.)

He's a trip, he really is. Definitely worth it.

I don't think there are change-out zones after each board, at least not on PC. When you get to the last board, where you meet Branka, *then* the game adds Oghren to the party as a mandatory companion and you can also change up the rest of your squad. But there's nothing between Caradin's Cross/Ortan Thaig/The Trenches where you can change.

I think you can transition from the Deep Roads map to the main map and get to party camp that way, but to get back, you have to re-enter via Orzammar.

This is sad. I mean, travelling all the way back is dimmension-breaking, no? But I can't just get rid of Sten, because Sten is that awesome. And I just love him in Broodmamma cutscene, lol. And I talk to him in Deep Roads sometimes, keeps me in the good mood.
*obvious fangurl is obvious*
I don't generally keep Oghren around because I don't like his sense of humor (though he is funny sometimes... in the Pearl, for example). But I heard his parts in Deep Roads are pretty cool and show a lot about his relationship with Branka. So... will I be missing out a lot?
Thanks for the help BTW

Yes, he reveals quite a bit in the Deep Roads. If he isn't a mandatory companion for the entire quest, he used to be. Or at least, the devs wanted him to be.

Swap out a different party member. I left Wynne behind.

Oghren's best moments are really there in the deep roads, a sort of makeshift narrator during a few cutscenes and providing him a depth of character you don't get so much when you're already done with the Anvil and hearing him belch at camp. He's also got a number of priceless scenes elsewhere, such as with the Guardian, Kolgrim, Kammen, Felsi, and at the gate. His banter is usually quite funny, and surprisingly the most with Wynne of all companions.

Note though- Orzammar's streets are all open to party member changes, so you don't have to go all the way back to camp to switch. I also like Sten, mind you, but Oghren's definitely worth the switch for at least one playthrough, and he does make the claustrophobic Deep Roads that much more endurable.

I about fell over when we met Wynne at the Mage's Tower. Haven't gotten to the elves yet, will have to see what he has to say to Cammen.

Make sure you have Morrigan with you when you talk to Kammen because there's a very rare meeting of the minds between Morr and Ogh. Hehe... But damn, I picked up Oghren after the Tower, so I missed that! Must redo... Must redo...

Cannot, I need Zev to pick locks and I levelled Morrigan up with Deep Roads in mind - so that now she can finally wreck **** up with the Storm of the Century and Enhanceв Manaclash.

I think most everyone did Tower before Orzammar.

I dunno, I used to keep Oghren around in my Aeducan playthrough, but I tired of his antics pretty fast. Dammit, now I am torn apart.

I did Orzammar first as my Dwarf Noble, just because. I took him into the Tower that playthrough too, and it was pretty fun to watch Cullen start in on him. I don't remember much about Wynne's reaction to Oghren, though, apart from that she had one. I didn't take him to the Dalish camp, though. I'll probably just YouTube that. Brb...
