Stargazer scene actually not part of the story, but a message directly to the players?

I believe that entire Stargazer scene is actually complete fiction, and Bioware is actually speaking directly to the player, hinting that there is more to come. I think it makes a lot of sense, and makes even more sense when you consider that you only get the Stargazer scene if you've imported a save or played through the game more than once, meaning the Mass Effect story is of some significant importance to you.

Allow me to explain.

Kid (representing the player): Did that all really happen?
  • (Is that really the ending?)
Stargazer (representing Bioware): Yes, but some of the details have been lost in time
  • (The details are coming, but they will take some time)
  • or
  • (There were some things (missions, quests, divergence etc) we couldn't implement because of time constraints) - suggested by MegumiAzusa
Kid: When can I go to the stars?
  • (When is the real ending/dlc coming?)
Stargazer: One day my sweet.
  • (Be patient)
Kid: What will be there?
  • (What will be in the DLC?)
Stargazer: Anything you can imagine!
  • (We'll take your feedback into account)
Stargazer: ...and every life is a special story of its own
  • (everyone's story will be wrapped up when we're done)
Kid: Tell me another story about the Shepard
  • (Tell me what happens to my Shepard!)
Stargazer: It's getting late but, okay, one more story... (;))

Bioware, if I'm right about this, please confirm it by saying nothing at all in this topic.... <_<:D

No, it's real.

Not everything is a hint at something.

It's just crap.

That's it.

New level of desperation or hope here, I am not sure which.

a message directly to the players?

"I'm Buzz Aldrin, buy DLC."

All the ending scenes were so vague that the significance of the Stargazer is impossible to judge.

It does put a bit of a crimp in IT. So it has that going for it.

Bioware was not planning any Extended cut, it has been stated that their other DLC plans have been stopped to work on the EC, so nope, this was not planned as part of that man/kid scene, probably just talking of DLC in general.

Also it has been stated before, this is the final chapter of Shepard, so nothing alluding to future release either because the kid is asking about Shepard, not just another story...so again, probably just DLC.

It doesnt - it's an interpretation that questions the story.

That implies that you think that nothing else was planned that isnt the EC, which I disagree with. So I'm going to stick with my opinion. ^_^

Nope, just crappy story telling.

Of course its not actually apart of the story - we aren't given any narrative context for who or where they are, only that it takes place after the main story. They don't even have proper names.

But you may be getting ahead of yourself by saying that it is a message directly to the players. It is more likely just a representation of the legend that Shepard has become. That scene most definitely should not be taken literally.

Sorry your statement sounds liek a trick question, I do not get it :P

I am saying, if BW said they had to stop working on a DLC in order to work on the EC, this means they did not plan it, or the EC would have been first release..

lol, some of you guys are really funny. Someone could write a PhD dissertation on the psychology of it taking more than 2 and a half months to get over what you perceive to be a letdown over a videogame, and still being on the forums complaining about it despite having no belief in something good coming of it.

I'm here because I believe something better is coming. Not sure why you guys are here to be honest. To bump my topic, apparently? Thanks. :D

I think OP may be on to something here. The scene felt oddly out of place and you get it no matter the color. I mean, the "...one more story" line makes no sense considering that the DLC plans only involved mid-game content, not post ending stuff like "The Arrival" where you could play it at the end.

Exactly. Thank you for speaking up. I'm sure there are a lot more lurkers reading this topic who agree but are afraid to speak up because of the angry pessimistic folk.

No.  It could mean that they hadn't planned on working on it so soon.

It's my fervent belief that we were supposed to get bits of the ending with each DLC.

E.g., "Buy the 'Re-Take Omega' DLC and get bonus ending footage".

That's a very positive interpretation. I certainly enjoy it more than just....

"Huh."
