Stargazer scene actually not part of the story, but a message directly to the players?

I think OP may be on to something here. The scene felt oddly out of place and you get it no matter the color. I mean, the "...one more story" line makes no sense considering that the DLC plans only involved mid-game content, not post ending stuff like "The Arrival" where you could play it at the end.

Exactly. Thank you for speaking up. I'm sure there are a lot more lurkers reading this topic who agree but are afraid to speak up because of the angry pessimistic folk.

...and people who read too much into things.

Just because Bioware had to "reprioritize" their DLC plans, that doesn't mean that this wasn't in the plan in some way.  It just means they had to reshift.

No.  It could mean that they hadn't planned on working on it so soon.

It's my fervent belief that we were supposed to get bits of the ending with each DLC.

E.g., "Buy the 'Re-Take Omega' DLC and get bonus ending footage".

I agree. I believe they didnt think that an extended cut of the ending would be necessary to tide players over until the DLC. Turns out, it is necessary, so theyre making it. Plus, they didnt get the six extra months they asked for when finishing the game, just three. How long is the EC taking to make? Probably 3 months. Could be that the content of the EC was originally intended to be included with the game.

"Huh."

It's always amusing to me:

People would sooner believe that professional writers and game developers went completely brain dead than to believe that this was a elaborate tactic (though questionably effective implementation) to get people to BUY DLC.  You would think that the latter would appeal to the "EA are money hungry blood sucking vampires" crowd...but hey...

Pre-emptive strike:

Don't anyone get any ideas that just because the dialouge wasn't written or the full concept put into a story board that there wasn't some plan in the works prior to the outcry.  Do not confuse the formal development process for idea conception.

Again, I agree with you. I think it is much more plausible to think that EA encouraged Bioware to set something up that would give fans a very compelling reason to buy single player DLC rather than to rush Bioware into releasing the game with a horrible ending so they could hurry up and make some quick up-front cash. Which one is going to net them more money in the end? I wonder...

Furthermore, there is also the very likely possibility that they wanted some initial feedback from the content of ME3 before tailoring additional content.

IGNORING how indoctrination was a supporting cast member for the first two games!!!  They talked about it so damn much that I got paranoid.  Posted Image

I mean COME ON!!!  Saren was indoctrinated.  The Geth, in a way, were indoctrinated.  You saw missions and DLC in ME2 with the theme of indoctrination!  TIM was indoctrinated.

Why would it be out of the realm of reasonable possibility that Shepard is the focus of indoctrination efforts?!

It's Casey Hudson getting...uh, "inspired" by a German seventh grader.

True story.

I think you were right to lean towards getting paranoid. In hindsight, it does seem like the entire trilogy was building up and foreshadowing towards a final confrontation with indoctrination.

Yep. Reluctance is fine. Irrational rejection out-of-hand (I'm fairly sure the first reply to this topic was made without even reading it) is unreasonable, and only results in causing additional anger for the individual being irrational.

According to the Final Hour bonus junk (I can't remember the exact name, nor do I care), a seventh grader from Berlin wrote to Casey Hudson about what he thought would be a great last scene during ME3's production. Naturally, Casey felt so inspired by this letter, that he made...whatever the hell that Stargazer scene is supposed to be.

I love the way every scene, word, gesture and wound is being analysed across these forums for hope of new ways forward and new content. Just brilliant. May it continue until the EC chokes the ME out of me...

I'm enjoying it while it lasts, too. Not every year does a game come along that invokes the desire to speculate and analyze it to this degree. This is the first one that has had that effect for me, in fact.

It's either a total genius meta moment or just another subtle ad for DLC.

That is what they did do at the very end; advertise DLC and the very last words of the trilogy was infact "downloadable content". Sad face :(
