Stargazer scene actually not part of the story, but a message directly to the players?

If Bioware planned this all along.. They.. Are.. Brilliant.

Bioware wanted the fans to speculate about the game/endings. That's what they have told before the release..
Look at us now.. We are still speculating about it.

Good job Bioware.

Hint of more Shepard DLC or prelude to the new sequel. Or both. Nothing more.

Now, instead of Shepard's personal desk by the Galaxy Map being shown on the Start screen... we'll have the grandpa and the kid standing next to: "Choose a DLC Story."

On its own, I rather like the stargazer scene. It's a reminder that as SF fans, we all project our hopes out to the stars.

It only fails because of the suggestion that the galaxy is still in a dark age. In context, it now reminds us of the hope that has been destroyed by ME3's ending.

Where it suggests that the galaxy is still in a "dark age"?

The point of my speculation though is that it doesnt suggest anything about the galaxy because it isn't part of the story.

German? I dont follow. Can you explain?

According to the Final Hour bonus junk (I can't remember the exact name, nor do I care), a seventh grader from Berlin wrote to Casey Hudson about what he thought would be a great last scene during ME3's production. Naturally, Casey felt so inspired by this letter, that he made...whatever the hell that Stargazer scene is supposed to be.

Starkid = German 7th grader?

Actual footage found of said inspirational German kid.

So... Bioware compared me to the worst kid in the universe?

Well that makes it much better... no.

I'm of the opinion that Stargazer's scene is real, and ME as a trilogy is the best that could be remembered by tradition, with details lost to time.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the EC comes out.

The "Stargazer" scene itself isn't bad... it's just preceded by such terrible ending that it's not enough.    No matter what color you pick the ending basically destroys everything we loved about Mass Effect, then credits roll while we're in shock.  Finally Stargazer starts and it's not enough to salvage hope out of what we seen.

I'm sorry if taken at face value its terrible you simply do not reveal in the last seconds that the events of 3 games are being told as a story to a child it calls into question everything in all games if it is indeed what you say than its even worse because we all spent 60+ dollars on an incomplete game

So desperate... Why would they have included an incredibly vague coded message like this in the first place rather than just making their intentions clear?

There is obviously a deeper meaning behind the scene. Their conversation makes no sense whatsoever. How would the stargeezer even know what happened in the decision chamber? Why would Bioware use an adult model for the child when they obviously had a child model they could have used?

It wasn't a made up story, Shepard became a legend from history.   The events happened, our Shepard was real, the Reapers were real, Liara, Kaidan, Ash, Tali, Wrex, Garrus, etc were all real.

What didn't work is that we just seen everything we loved about Mass Effect get destroyed or lost.  Citadel, Relays, Geth, EDI destroyed.   Our crew and the Normandy crash on some unknown world with an uncertain future.  All that is bad enough, but that was ontop of Star-brat and the RBG.   Too much left unanswered with no closure.

Instead of being a bittersweet ending cinematics we're left with an emotional void of confusion, anger, and bitterness while the credits roll.   Then we see the Stargazer scene and it can't compensate for what we just went though.
