Im waiting, I promoted one class yesterday, my mistake as the splash screen has not yet showed up, im in the UK, so im waiting patiently, no doubt it will show either later on today or tommorrow.

it only counts as one. 

Wrong 1 class counts as 5 characters. soilders has 6 if u have battlefield. they do have to be unlcoked tho

I'm not sure if you participated in the second weekend event, but I did, and they said the exact same thing. He said promote "two characters" and people were confused (as they are now.) He then clearified on the thread that that actually meant two seperate classes. This is the exact same thing. If you don't believe me, message him.

to clear this up for me.

characters mean geth, turian, krogan etc.
class means soilder, infiltrator, engineer etc.

so
for the op when u say promote three characters is it promote one class
with three characters unlocked or promoted 3 classes cause im confused.

I think your confusion just rubbed off on him it makes the most sense that it's 3 classes you need to promote. But if you feel confident in your case, then go ahead and promote only 1 class with 3+ characters and see if you get a Commendation Pack my bet is you'll miss out.

Oh splendid, we've moved from expecting other people in the same lobby to do the promoting for us to thinking we just have to promote one class so long as there are three unlocked races in said class.

Seeing such progress makes me weep. Perhaps by Sunday we'll have a solid handle on this promote-three-classes business.

Because it's just so, so complicated.

That's partially correct. If you promote 3 soldiers for instance a human, a krogan and a batarian you are ok. Also if you promote 3 adepts, no matter the race, you are ok. If you promote a salarian infiltrator, a quarian engineer and a human soldier you are fine too.
I asked Priestley for this and the things are as i said above.

sorry, but when you promote a class it promotes all 5  variations(6 for soldiers if u have the bf3 soldier) of that class (or as many/few as u have unlocked.) there is no way to promote individual variations within the class and keep the others at 20, it is all or none.

As i understood every "variation" counts as a character. I asked Priestey again to clarify this. Stay tuned.

Clarified!! Any "variation" of any class counts as character. For example, if you have a human male, a human female and a salarian infiltrator and promote them (or the class for some of you to understand) you are ok. You promoted 3 characters.
Also if you have at level 20 for exmple two soldiers and one engineer and promote you are ok.
Also if you have at level 20 for example one adept, one infiltrator and one vanguard and promote you are ok too.

It is if you all you do is solo like me .

I can see if you had a good group you could level up pretty quickly, especially if your weapons & mods are maxed out.

I'm the same way i'm having to run with Randos and most of them don't even bother to stay for the entire match or another match. It's extremely irksome. But none of my friends play ME3 so i'm forced to run with randos.

I just got my last level 20 of the three needed a few hours ago. From level 15 to 20 it took about 2 hours. I know that one sliver match played to finish normally gets a level 1 to level 8 - 10 so I bet I could do one in about 5 - 6 hours maximum provided I have a good group. Not looking forward to releveling my Infiltrators though, I'll miss being uber powrful with the SI and GI, lol. Hopefully this time it'll be worth it and I'll get a Valiant upgrade instead of the Eagle or one of the other two upgraded.
