I'm starting a new BG2 playthrough and I was wondering what a normal end game level was? Last time I played I was pretty low level. I feel like I missed out on so much stuff since I was so low level. What level did YOU guys end the game with in Shadows of Amn?

Thanks! ^_^

It depends quite a bit on classes, party size and whether you did all of Watcher's Keep or not. For a party, I think levels 15-17 is pretty common and about 19-22 for thieves/bards. For solo, a character often will be ToB level cap by the end of the game if they do most/all SoA content.

I used to keep track of this but now I just play. Here are my earlier game levels at the point I fought Illasera:

First game was predictably sub-optimal. Thog F/T 15/18, Imoen 7>17, Aerie 14/16, Anomen 7>25, Mazzy 23, Yoshimo, Valygar, & Haer'Dalis also taken but removed before final Bhodi fight. I never finished ToB.

Second was Muhahaha M/C 30/39, Keldorn 17, Mazzy 19, Jan 13/16. Muhahaha soloed the whole of SoA (Tactics/Ascension mods), and had just added the other three before finishing. I later reloaded my final save and soloed Ascension on core, but at those levels I was pretty overpowered.

I then tried an evil group, again with Tactics/Ascension. Cohen Barbie 28, Viconia 29, Edwin 23, Valen F/T 18/22, Korgan 27, Sarevok added later. Cohen also soloed Ascension, albeit on easy.

Next run, still Tactics/Ascension. Ivan the pretty bad Kensai>T 13>33, Kelsey Sorcerer 27, Aerie 18/21, Jan 18/24, Valygar 28, Solaufein F/M 19/17. Ivan tried to solo Ascension on easy, but failed miserably.

Then I branched out and tried a vanilla no sidequest run, starting in BG1 easytutu. I did include the Imoen romance and improved Sendai. Toadwart F/T 15/18, Imoen 7>20, Sarevok added later. This was my first attempt at the non-ascension ending.

I had another go with BG1 easytutu with SCS1, and Tactics/Ascension/Imoen romance in BG2. Also The Four, which was four fights taken from Improved Anvil 4. Eric F/M 15/15, Imoen 11>19, Jaheira 15/14, Minsc 20, Haer'Dalis 25. Imoen, Jaheira & Minsc came through BG1, and I romanced both women. I added Irenecus from the Longer road mod after Illasera.

I have never managed to finish SoA playing SCS2. To start with, I simply couldn't beat the tougher enemies, and since then I've been plagued with hardware failures which forced me to re-install, and I'm too ADD to re-create an install a second time so I have to restart.

OK enough work-avoidance I think :P

For a party of six playing at Core - and with the Longer Road Mod - and doing the 1st 2 levels of Watchers Keep and doing all the side quests, my PC generally winds up around 3.7+ million experience points. Looking at old saves, that comes down to
Swashbuckler Level 27
Ranger level 20
Fighter level 21
Kensai level 22
Inquisitor (paladin) level 20
Archer level 20
I think that if you do EVERYTHING there's a group total of about 17 million experience points in SoA and the beginning of WK, so with a smaller party (4) your PC would hit 4+ million or (party of 3) 5+ million. In the unlikely event you still have your end of game save, you might check what the total exp. pts. for your party was, and that would tell you what % of the maximum experience you had. But remember it's not the destination but the journey that counts Posted Image

I have a solo Berserker that just emerged from the Underdark at max TOB level. Actually, he would have been level 43 if I would have advanced him past the cap of 40.
