Exactly one 24-hour temp ban because I was yanking the chains of these two trolls. Apparently, the problem was that I failed to report the thread so my humorous chain-yanking counted as adding to the spam. Oops! Otherwise, since I'm largely well-behaved I tend not to get into trouble.

Moderators are human. They're even totally different humans.

They miss lots. They have different interpretations of how far is too far. They read a thread and come to their own conclusion as to how abusive, spammy, or inappropriate posts are.

Some of them are zealous while others are more relaxed, and even the same mod can have good days and bad days.

And really, part of it is that people never seem to report things to a moderator. I've stumbled into threads and seen nasty stuff that apparently was posted 24+ hours ago and several pages of replies afterwards. If that can happen, I suspect that most of the normally abusive behavior is something the mods stumble on by luck.

Moderate to many times, I guess the mods could tell you.

I want to have a positive reputation with the forumites and devs, though I'm not sure particularly what people think of me.

If I'm held in a negative light, I never intended it and that would make me sad. I'd try to redeem myself.

Why not it's the only ban i've got and the thread still asks for it, and yes i don't think i deserved it cuz it wasn't too bad either so i guess it's the new rules otherwise it would probably be 24 hour or week ban.

Admitting that you're circumventing a permanent forum ban is usually not a good idea.

I got one 24 hour ban from Stanley over a year ago for spamming images in a troll thread. I deserved it but I laughed my ass off in that thread.

You just reminded me that it doesn't matter what a moderator does for a forum as a whole, people are only concerned with what a moderator has done to them personally. The banhammer wasn't the only thing I ever did as a moderator, but it will be the only thing you remember me doing as a moderator because that's what happened to you personally.

Though some of the things I did as a moderator I had done before and have done since, which was actually help people who have questions on how things on the site or the Mass Effect games worked. I just don't do it very often anymore.

1st 24h ban I never find out why I got it nor from who. I asked several moderators, neither said they gave me ban.

2nd and 3rd 24h ban I got for spamming. I think in both cases Stanley Woo gave me.


And that's about it.

For last 2 I deserved it and didn't have problem.

I've been here for over two years and haven't been banned once, and I'm a pretty active user overall.

I don't think it's as hard as some people make it out to be. As long as you are honest with yourself and watch your words every time you post something, you will never get banned. If you're attacked or explicitly trolled by someone for no apparent reason, the best course of action is to simply report them to a mod/admin and move on. Returning an insult tends to drop the ban hammer on both sides, regardless of who "started it".

I got banned last year for about a week or a month (cant remember 100% exactly, my memory is pretty grandpa like usually so) think it was because i got told i spammed an over months old thread, and put in the description ''I am back!'' never ever should have done that:mellow:

I still have bad memories of that ban today.
