It's true. I've tried, but every time an error message comes up: "Error 706: ErichHartmann is unbannable, so don't even try, jerkface!"ErichHartmann wrote...
I'm a paragon of virtue. It's impossible for me to get banned.

They miss lots. They have different interpretations of how far is too far. They read a thread and come to their own conclusion as to how abusive, spammy, or inappropriate posts are.
Some of them are zealous while others are more relaxed, and even the same mod can have good days and bad days.
And really, part of it is that people never seem to report things to a moderator. I've stumbled into threads and seen nasty stuff that apparently was posted 24+ hours ago and several pages of replies afterwards. If that can happen, I suspect that most of the normally abusive behavior is something the mods stumble on by luck.

I want to have a positive reputation with the forumites and devs, though I'm not sure particularly what people think of me.
If I'm held in a negative light, I never intended it and that would make me sad. I'd try to redeem myself.

I had access to the ban hammer once. I was strict, and I advocated harder punishments to those I noticed were repeatedly being banned. However, I didn't read every single post made on every single forum in which I moderated, plus, as I am not a robot, subjectivity was going to be an ever-present accusation. And I still think many people thought I got paid to do the job, which is... no. No. Just no. Not even. No.
I thought I was fighting for people who wanted a more inviting environment in which to participate. I was wrong.
yea i remember that seeing as i was on your ultimate hit list for ban hammers
you have to admit though i never went as far as to say you were being paid or w/e crap people like to assume
i do agree you were pretty specific when i made certain threads

Why not it's the only ban i've got and the thread still asks for it, and yes i don't think i deserved it cuz it wasn't too bad either so i guess it's the new rules otherwise it would probably be 24 hour or week ban.chunkyman wrote...

That's only because I'm a co-conspirator with the mods...
Sadly, I do not think Stan thinks I am. I better keep a eye on him.

What did you do before and what was your old username?

You just reminded me that it doesn't matter what a moderator does for a forum as a whole, people are only concerned with what a moderator has done to them personally. The banhammer wasn't the only thing I ever did as a moderator, but it will be the only thing you remember me doing as a moderator because that's what happened to you personally.Tazzmission wrote...

Though some of the things I did as a moderator I had done before and have done since, which was actually help people who have questions on how things on the site or the Mass Effect games worked. I just don't do it very often anymore.

GMag... not CMag.... GMagnum!
He was simple the single most funny person on BSN. He was a beacon of light in the dark weeks that followed after March 6. He got perma-banned for simply being too awesome for this forum.

Gmagnum. Spoke in horribly horribly broken text and made many gross sexual comments about Miranda, mostly about her "buttcheeks."
As for myself, i've been banned at least three times, maybe four.
1st for spamming...something, or possibly trolling or for contributing to a troll thread. May have had more than one during this period, i don't recall.
2nd by accident; I replied to a thread by a spambot and the mod accidently banned me; they later messaged and apologized.
3rd time for gratuitous cursing: a couple of friends here were trolling me hard and i let it get to me.

2nd and 3rd 24h ban I got for spamming. I think in both cases Stanley Woo gave me.
And that's about it.
For last 2 I deserved it and didn't have problem.

I don't think it's as hard as some people make it out to be. As long as you are honest with yourself and watch your words every time you post something, you will never get banned. If you're attacked or explicitly trolled by someone for no apparent reason, the best course of action is to simply report them to a mod/admin and move on. Returning an insult tends to drop the ban hammer on both sides, regardless of who "started it".
