So after attempting one ten times and finding out it is impossible to kill with the current party members and spells I have unless I downgrade the difficulty to easy the game's difficulty is still scaling stupidly. If I have to change to the difficulty to get through one encounter something is wrong.

Or, perhaps you are fighting an extremely strong foe. Luckily, revnants are optional fights so you can avoid them like the plague. Because they're as nasty as one. Come back when you get some levels then take them on.

A lot of us have no trouble with them.

There's only one who you need to fight as far as I know, all the others are optional.

The one you do have to fight isn't as powerful as normal ones, plus there is a way to make him easier. Can't go into more detail without Spoilers, so you may be better off posting in one of the other forum sections where spoilers are allowed, so at least we can determine which Rev you mean.

They're definitely beatable. I don't have an optimal party by any means and I can take them down, but they're tough and they're intended to be. IMO, they're one of the toughest opponents in the game, actually. If you want more detailed help, toss a post in the spoilers forum and describe your party make up (what characters and spells you have). I'm sure someone can give you some advice to get you through it.

I didn't have a healer in my party.

He can't...health pots are over powered and make the game to easy (ROTFLOL). Sorry...I've been spending way to much time in that thread....

They kind of do, they are corrupted souls which were sealed away due to their particular sin. As far as fighting them they can be lamely kited if you are a extremely low level but as with other other battles in the game its all about managing your party.

He 1 shots Morrigan with that pull ability he has and I can't use them fast enough to keep anyone alive.

Look up revenants on the spoiler section, there's many ways of beating them.

Everyone wants a challenge!

Huge cooldowns on Potions

Healing spells nerfed.

CC times reduced.

Then complain when they can't beat optional monsters because they are balanced around what they want nerfed.

I keep being amazed at people who seriously try to play without a healer.

Of course you're crippled. That goes without saying. Its insanely obvious.

So? he adds a 60 sec cooldown health potion mod then goes off to fight a revenant with no healer on Nightmare?

<_<

No-Mage nightmare runs are fun :)

But there are some encounters you really should avoid.

Then why have a option in which places to go? Just have a message in the game that says:

HAVE WYNNE IN YOUR PARTY OR YOU ARE ****ED!

Didn't go to Circle Tower first? Sorry, restart the game!

This isn't just Revenants. One boss battle I couldn't complete because I ran out of health poultices by the time I got to the end and had no healer. It was impossible to do unless I reloaded an earlier save went all the baaaaaaaaaaaack to the damn party camp to buy more distillation agents........go all the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back to the Dalish camp to buy more elfroots. Stupid.

Yeah, it's actually optional.. you killed yourself by starting the fight.

The scaling isn't the problem. Some bad guys, such as Revenants, Dragons, Names Bosses etc scale to a range, so that they are always in the upper echelon in levels. Take one of these guys on at level 7 and they will still be in the upper bracket. The whole point of scaling is to make casual encounters at a relevant difficulty, not bring all bad guys down to your level.

Wynne isn't the only one who can learn Heal though, it's a Tier One spell and goes a long way towards keeping people standing.

You do not need a healer.

All you need is flasks, elf root to make lesser healing poultices. They get you through everything, and you pick up another higher tier ones so that if you reserve those for emergencies, there are plenty of them without having to craft your own.

This game rewards strategic and tactical long term planning and gameplay.

If you run into a boss battle unprepared, yes, you might have a lot of trouble. So prepare better.

If you don't want to go back and forth to the souce of the elf root, just buy like 300 thingies of elf root when you go there the first time, and a huge stack of flasks from the camp merchant. They should last you for most of the game really.

Morrigan with some well played CC tactics can be just as good as a healer PC or Wynne.

Going all the way back to pen and paper games, every group needs a minimum of a Tank, DPS, Rogue and Healer. This is gaming basics. If you don't have them, you can't win every encounter (in combat or exploration).

If I put Morrigan's points into healing then I have no CC. Forcefield and Cone of Cold are what I get with her first 2 spell points. I wasn't playing a Mage.
