I wont have a "true" problem if they decide to make her so human, this is only a request people may agree or disagree, is there game, but a photoshop is, too poor. I will rather see something more alien that that, but i won't break my experience for being like the fan art above this comment. It will how ever, make them too human(like the photoshop suggest) make me louse interest on them, since human skiing tone and few purple lines is just....well, like the helfs of start trek.
That's another thing every other sci-fi series has other basically human species. Star Trek has 3 (Orion, Vulcan, Romulan), Star Wars has like 4 (Twi'lek, Miraluka, Zabrak, Kiffar) Mass Effect only has two (Asari and Quarians) and I'm not even sure I should count Asari.
Mass Effect has done a great job making aliens vastly different. I think they can make one species basically human

The asari have human face, yet they look so diferet(or better say, give you such a diferent feeling) compering to humans, if they do something like that I would be happy, make her purple with small changes on her face and few deep lines(like wholes, like that photoshop suggest) and I will be really happy with such.
That i accept, and i agree only two humanoid is nothing on such a bast universe fully of diferent Aliens, I just dont want captain Spok, this last will make me louse interest.
I hope I make my self clear.

I see your point and I agree that the photoshop was poor, but I don't think we should be screaming for an entriely new design because of it

Well, yeas and no.
I m not complete sure if that picture is a desing it self, that picture is more a "shadow" or representation of the idea they have of the Quorians, in any case, a new design will be require.
I m studing design my self, and perhaps this request is more to help the desginer "comrades". A new post shall be create to request a full quality and final design of Tali following there own vision(Bioware) with in the EC cut.
I hope some one do it, I could do it, but two request in one day is too much
Edit: I will do it, any one here feel free to enter there and give your opinion.
Its done:

So and alien looks like?
Maybe green skin?
Twenty tentacles?
Splattering purple liquid all over place?
8 eyes?
In my opinion we have enough those different "freak" aliens, some can look similar to human but not everyone need to be like vorcha

I am totally fine with the pic, execution was off because of the poor photoshop job, speaking as a graphic designer/illustrator myself.
Obviously adding in a full 3D model of her would be a huge unexpected bonus but not likely. If nothing else, they should just redo the photoshop and this would be a good chance to slip the new file in.
What I would change in her photo:
1. Add Rannoch's landscape and sky into the background
2. Fix the hand to actually match her hand proportions
3. Minimize/remove the lens flare
4. Use highest resolution possible for the photo
5. Show a more clearly defined skin tone. (I have seen and read that some light purple/lavendar/light grey tones seem to be the most popular)
6. Photoshop her suit back on minus the helmet and the golden choker (makes the timeframe and act of the pic being taken more believable)
This may be the most realistic request, and in consecuence the one with more chanses to become true.
Could you create a post doing this request? if you do, let me know so I can give my support.
I wouldn't mind. Perhaps once I get home. Don't want to spam the boards with too many threads incase they see this thread.

You misunderstand, I mean I'd rather have something that actually resembles an alien rather than what we have. Ow is practically identical to humans. After her face being a mystery for the whole trilogy its extremely underwhelming to say the least.

Not at all
Only 6 fingers and toes. Different legs and body shape. Ears are different. Eyes.
Thats enough for me, no need to over do it.
I understand everyone have their own vision, but Canon face has been done and nothing "some" people can do about it

What I don't understand is why everyone seems to be drooling over that purple starfish fanart. It looks hideous.

Agreed. The current human-like design fits the codex and the silohette and doesn't look like a slimy yellow disfigured Asari.Edolix wrote...
I actually like the concept BioWare made for her face. However, the execution of it was lazy and insulting.

I wish a bioware would give us something other than how hard they worked on a 5 minute photoshop. Its so Unreal I would have never expected this from bioware
Im happy enough with current photo, but im so disappointed. They did not use effort for it, such a shame. One of most fav characters from the beginning and get 5 min photoshop while Chobot gets full body model to game

Bioware has already shown what Tali's face looks like. I'm annoyed at the fact that it was a photoshop job, sure, but trying to get them to change it is a waste of energy.
What we should be doing is trying to get them to add a fully-modeled Tali face in-game that we can see, when she takes her mask off on Rannoch.

Cant beleive ppl actually defending that horrible shoop, its obviously a lousy effort on bioware's part. Eh low expectations
Defending the photoshop? No, the photoshop was a slap in the face. I'm not defending it in the slightest
My point is that I would be perfectly happy with the face BioWare chose for Tali if only it was properly rendered into the game engine.

What Edolix said. There's an important distinction between defending the face they used and defending the execution (aka the photoshop)

I don't think it's bad that she looks so human (though I want her to look a bit more distinct). They also need to go in and make this all part of and fit into the lore and biological science of the game.
It's odd enough that the Asari look so human, so I think we need a firm and sensical reason as to why the Quarians apparently also look so similar to us.
