Armor strength requirements, hardcoded?

Hey,

I was wondering, I've been unable to locate the 2DA which affects how much of which attribute is needed to wear a specific armor piece. The armor pieces themselves also have no properties on them to define this. It could be materialtype based but even in those 2da files, I see no reference to strength being the modifier for the requirement.

Is this hardcoded in the engine? Or is it somewhere in the scripts that define the exact value and type of attribute that is needed to wear an armor piece?

I was planning on changing light armor to use dex or dex+cun and figured it'd be in the BITM_base.xls Attribute0 and Attribute1 but they are all set to 0 so that's not the place to look.

Anyone?

Perhaps try the Attribute column in the _SourceData worksheet in BITM_base.xls?

From the wiki - http://social.biowar...p/BITM_base.xls, this column is an index into the attribute.xls. It iis used by rules to determine the required attribute score.

Thanks for the help. I already tried changing that in the 2da file though. It doesn't change anything in the game, those values seem only to affect the damage/attack of weapons.

Hope a BioWare dev can tell me if it's hardcoded or not, have been looking for quite some time now.

Problem is _SourceData doesn't appear to export properly. If you leave it's name as-is it doesn't export, and if you change it, you get errors because of the formatting.

wait, you where talking about _SourceData. I've been going at it in ItemStats. You are correct, there is a way to change the modifier of armors. Too bad it only allows for one type of modifier though, would've loved to balance between str and con.

I'll start working on it and see how I can get it exported properly

I'm starting to wonder if _SourceData is supposed to be exported? As per the wiki:
"Several worksheets in this Excel file are not actual 2DAs, they are present only for informational purposes."

Nah, I'm pretty sure it isn't supposed to be exported. It has duplicate column names, it misses column value types (int.string, etc), it has the ID in column 2 instead of 1.

I was able to "fix" them until it gave me the duplicate column name error. There's no way to fix that, as the game would be unable to find the column anymore. But even then, it is clear this is no 2da worksheet. It's either only there for reference or I'll have to wait for the next Toolset update which hopefully fixes this spreadsheet.

Did you ever find anything out on this? I am contemplating something similar.
