Also, they merge well with the "themes" of the other weapons:

Harrier's design and colours follow the Cerberus style (it's a medded Mattock, after all).
The Reegar shotgun (seen in the hand of the Vorcha at the beginning of the trailer) keeps the same design of the Quarian Arc Pistol, only three-pronged.
And the Krysae has the same design style of the Turian Phaeston (but also three-pronged).

Has anyone noticed the tactical scan animation? Or even figured out what it does?

not entirely sure, assuming it will let you know what enemy is about to attack you next, or maybe it tells you who is spawning?

Take a look at 00:45. Holo pop-up next to the weapon. Hell if I know what it does apart from showing the distance to the enemy.
