Oh for god's sake will you please, please stop praising them for making it "free"?
Of course it's "free"!. That's the whole point!
They earn money from people buying those reinforcements packs or whatever they're called. Yes, yes people are going to jump at me now and say "Well I don't, I use the in-game money I grinded!".
Good for you. However, many use real money. I've seen the posts, and given the random nature of the packs it's specifically designed for you to drain your in-game money and feel compelled to use real money.
So please do not thank them for their roundabout profit strategy.
Who gives a frog whether it is 'free' or not. There is a common delusion that the MP aspect of the game is a huge detriment to the single player game. MP did not cause the Bratalyst to come into the equation or the few other bits of poor design or writing in the SP game.
MP is fun for a lot of people and certainly a success by all the sounds of it.

For those who still don't know: SP and MP have different teams. I still have faith that the EC will fix most, and I'm happy that Bioware is taking enough time to finish it.

I still can't see how it's affecting me in a bad way when some schmuck feels like wasting his/her money on something that can be obtainable for free. Especially when I'm not spending a single real coin.
If it means more free DLCs, they can sell everything they own to buy those packs for all I care.
It's completely their own fault if they do it too.

no ones forcing you to spend real money on those packs, you can't blame bioware if some people are weak-willed enough to spend their own cash on digital weapons and suchlike.
Yes, nobody's forcing them.
Let me put it this way. A casino does not force you to give them your money. But the only reason casinos exist is to part you from your money.
Does that mean we should thank casino owners for letting people enter for "free"?
Bioware could easily have charged peple a few quid for this, in fact many were expecting it, but they didn't. its completely free, doesn't that deserve some thanks??
How the hell is it free! The new characters and weapons are contained in the packs.
Sure, you can use in-game money for it, but you and I both know people will spend real money on it.
That is the reason the DLC is "free". That deserves no thanks.
Your right.
But honestly, who cares? In the end, it's a sound business strategy and makes sense in the current economic market that gaming is in. It's a free MMO with microtransactions added, and it makes companies money.
So it's not really free, but I give EA credit for a sound buisness practice that works honestly. Of course, if the multiplayer ever gets shut down then it becomes an issue of losing all that money you sank into it...but that has been going on since subscriptions for MMO's since 1999, or buying hats from TF2, no one cares because it is a throwaway expense that people can afford, since all of this is a luxary item after all.
So you are right, but it does deserve thanks because it's still a service they didn't have to provide. And why the hell would they do that, now?

The "problem", such as it is, is that you get what you pay for. If EA sees that what people pay for are random packs for multiplayer, then, guess what? That's what gets catered to.
Simple business. Follow the money.
Now, if you really think Mass Effect is best enjoyed as a multiplayer game with a story mode tacked onto it, then this is nothing but good news.

Rare.
They want all but 6 character cards to be rare so that people spend lots of actual money spamming the improved spectre packs.
That's my theory.
If I'm wrong, please correct this foolish assumption.

They will almost certainly make more money if they are rare.Abraham_uk wrote...

Not to be too blunt, but this is a pretty big self-contradticion: if it's "a sound buisness practice that works", then by what measure "does [it] deserve thanks because it's still a service they didn't have to provide"?
If it's a sound business practice, and I agree that it is, then it's not a gratuity or bonus. It's another revenue stream. Thanking EA/BW for it is like thanking McDonalds for offering for sale a new variety of nugget.

Seriously why is it that they keep making males?
I thought they had a nice touch making quarians only females considering that besides humans the only female alien we could play was asari... lol I wouldn´t be surprised if suddenly they decide that asaris can have a male look as well.

They are essentially two diffent issues all together. (The only bad connection being the readiness meter in which you can't get full readiness points and get that different shep breth ending.)
They MP was made by a different section of BW. The ME3 game and it's quality probably had very little to do with MP and you can play one or the other or both.
This is not to say that the next ME game may be much more heavily mp influenced we don't know but to indicate that the sp game was tacked on is totally erroneous and pretty biased.

seriously, do you really think that it'll change anything? i don't give a vorchas ass about MP. i want satisfying ending for ME3, you won't bribe me with all of those free MP packs
Yeah, free as in "pay us real money for the random chance to get these characters" packs.
Well, when you've got a cash-cow you might as well milk it. Tis not surprising.
No "real money" is necessary. Credits gained in game work just as nicely.
It is completely free.

New Gear Slot – A new slot will be available on the equipment screen, offering players a persistent gameplay bonus that will not expire after the end of a match. These new items will vary from weapon upgrades to character enhancements and will be available through reinforcement packs.
this was needed and the new in mission objectives the mp even with the last new stuff was getting boring but this is awesome wish this was the first free dlc you released

I agree. I'm male but I like playing female characters. Though I do hve to point out that as far as Turians and salarians go there really isn't any visual difference between the sexes. so would you want a more fem. voice or what? EVE VANGUARD FOR MULTIPLAYER!!!
