How do you "unstick" yourself from Kaiden?

I have a feeling that just stops the sex from happening on the way to Ilos but does not stop the actual romance. From the sounds of where the OP is I think that romance might be locked in now, though the proof for that won't be obvious until the character's imported into ME2 and looks at the photo on the desk in the captain's quarters. LucasShark, I wouldn't be surprised if Kaiden is looking back at you when that happens, which means the romance is alive and kicking even though Femshep would have been dead and not kicking for a while.paramedico wrote...
I think before any romance you have the option of saying something to the effect of "let's not do this" and getting out of it. I think...
For future ref, Kaiden (and Ashley for BlokSheps) seems to need to be put off early, as in right after Eden Prime when you wake up in the sickbay. Use the renegade response ('You jeopardised the mission' or something like that, IIRC) and that should provoke a frown on Kaiden/Ashley's face and reduce the chances of romance later. If they smile it's because what you said makes them think they've got a chance with your Shep. Take a couple more renegade options after that, particularly ones which remind them that Shepard's the boss of that ship or similar, and that should kill any romance and let you have some normal colleague-colleague conversations later. If it's not looking like that's working you could deliberately romance Liara instead which will lead to a confrontation later on where they ask you to pick just one of them, though that might just leave you with an unwanted romance with Liara instead. Or just blow him up on Virmire next time.

But, if you talk them enough there will be a point where Kaiden or Liara asks about your relationship with Liara/Kaiden and you can clearly choose one of them.
Once I played as MaleShep, fully Renegade, alien hater, ruthless SOB. I do it that because I want to know how far you can go and change the game. And I wonder there's an option to not romance with no one. It was easy, because I hated Ash and later I killed her on Virmire. And I picked up Liara after Feros, Noveria and Virmire.

I don't know if that's enough. I might be wrong but if you've had the smile then I have a feeling that a renegade response of the I'm-boss-you-work-for-me-remember? kind may be necessary at some point to derail her.Alien Fodder wrote...
Oh god... I recently started a playthrough as a maleshep and he thanked Ashley for rescuing him on Eden Prime. I just wanted to use the Paragon response and be nice and polite, not start a romance with her. But I remember her smiling after my Shep said thanks so I guess now I'm stuck with her... Yuk. I'll just try to avoid talking to her for the rest of the game. No way I'm romancing her.

If you avoid talking to her, you'll keep romancing her. I think the romance starts even before you thank her for the rescue. I don't remember about Ashley, but you can tell Kaidan at several points that he is out of line. Once is enough to shut the romance down. Of course that requires that you talk to them.
I am always surprised by the amount of people refusing to talk to Ashley / Kaidan, and then complaining about getting ninjamanced. Just talk to them, and let them know you are not interested.

I did reload once and stopped talking with him, when I noticed that the chat with him suddenly turned toward spending shore leave together, how wonderful we both are, etc. But I was already well locked in. I had the oppertunity to stand rank and to tell him to leave me alone after Virmire, at the Citadel, but I didn't do it, because it just didn't feel right to be rude, when he simply was being nice, wanted to check up on femshep, seeing how she is doing, being supportive, etc.
I did turn him away from my cabin, but in ME2, he still sends a email, about that night and how it meant everything to him. Apparantly being send off without getting to "serve" femshep was a exciting and memorable event in his book, which meant a whole lot to him.
No kidding, when I got in my cabin and heard a strange sound and turned around, I suddenly saw Kaidan's picture. I sort of laughed and half cried. And then I was a little freaked about how the organization made sure I had his portrait on my desk. It just added that extra feeling of having no privacy.PsiFive wrote...
